Kinetic Games teases Phasmophobia 1.0 for 2026

Kinetic Games has offered its clearest hint yet about when Phasmophobia will finally leave Early Access. Speaking with IGN, art director Corey J. Dixion revealed that Version 1.0 will likely coincide with the long-awaited “Horror 2.0” update, currently planned for 2026. This milestone will mark the game as feature-complete, signaling the end of its long development journey that began with its surprise Early Access debut in September 2020.

A Haunting Journey from Early Access to a Feature-Complete Future

Since launch, the co-op horror phenomenon has captivated millions, selling over 25 million copies and expanding to multiple platforms. In Phasmophobia, up to four players investigate haunted locations, collect paranormal evidence, and survive encounters with a variety of ghost types. While smaller updates will continue until Version 1.0’s release, Horror 2.0 promises a complete overhaul of the experience — the developers have teased it will “change everything,” making the game feel entirely new.

Earlier this year, the game received one of its most ambitious overhauls yet, featuring a redesigned evidence collection system, major map rebuilds such as Bleasdale Farmhouse, and updated player models to enhance immersion. These improvements have already laid the groundwork for what Horror 2.0 aims to deliver on a larger scale.

In the meantime, players can enjoy the latest updates, such as the Grafton Farmhouse rework, which adds eerie new spaces like a dusty attic and seamstress’s room, along with fresh environmental hazards.
