Gearbox Software has lifted the curtain on the first DLC Vault Hunter coming to Borderlands 4, officially introducing C4SH during the Tokyo Game Show. Scheduled to arrive in Q1 2026, the new character brings a fresh twist to the franchise with a playstyle rooted in random chance — and he’s already generating plenty of buzz among fans.
C4SH is a robot who previously worked as a casino dealer before trading the blackjack table for the battlefield. His kit reflects his gambling background, with dice, playing cards, and probability-based powers serving as the core of his combat identity. While Gearbox hasn’t detailed exactly how luck will factor into his gameplay, the studio promises that C4SH will stand out as one of the most unpredictable Vault Hunters yet.
Players won’t just be getting a new character — C4SH will launch alongside Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, the game’s first major story pack. Set in a new region of Kairos, the expansion will add campaign missions, side quests, cosmetics, and new loot to chase. Both the DLC character and story pack will be available to owners of the Super Deluxe Edition or Vault Hunter Pack, with standalone purchase options expected.
This marks the start of Gearbox’s 2026 content roadmap, which includes another DLC Vault Hunter later in the year. Before then, however, fans can look forward to the Horrors of Kairos seasonal event, new legendary weapons, and the first of four Bounty Packs scheduled for late 2025. It’s a packed schedule that suggests Gearbox is committed to keeping Borderlands 4 active well beyond launch.
Meanwhile, the franchise hasn’t been without setbacks, as the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Borderlands 4 recently faced an indefinite delay.
With C4SH and The Vault of the Damned on the way, Borderlands 4 players won’t be starved for new content anytime soon. And if you haven’t joined the loot-shooting chaos yet, you can use our price comparator to grab the best deals on Borderlands 4 today.
