Assassin’s Creed Shadows May Arrive on Nintendo Switch 2

Assassin's Creed Shadows, Ubisoft’s latest major installment in its iconic franchise, appears to be preparing for a launch on the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. Although no official confirmation has been issued yet, several strong indicators suggest that a version for Nintendo’s upcoming hardware is in the works.

During a recent investor call, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed that “new versions” of Assassin’s Creed Shadows are in development for “other machines,” carefully avoiding direct reference to the Switch 2. However, the timing of his statement—paired with ongoing rumors and a now-removed PEGI rating listing the game for Switch—has sparked widespread speculation. Many fans and industry insiders believe it’s only a matter of time before the announcement becomes official.

Perhaps intentionally adding more information for the gaming community, Ubisoft’s CFO noted that the company has at least one unannounced title slated for release on Switch 2 before March 2026. With Star Wars Outlaws already confirmed for the platform, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is one of the most likely candidates to follow. Given the franchise’s global popularity and the expected power boost of the Switch 2, a tailored version of Shadows could offer players a richly detailed, portable open-world experience unlike anything seen before on a Nintendo system.

If it does launch, the Switch 2 version of Assassin’s Creed Shadows will likely include key updates and expansions such as the "Claws of Awaji" DLC, launching in September 2025, and New Game+ mode, arriving in July.
