Ubisoft Confirms No Second DLC Coming to AC Shadows
Ubisoft has officially stated that Assassin's Creed Shadows will not receive a second major expansion beyond Claws of Awaji, marking a significant shift in how the publisher approaches post-launch content for its flagship series. According to associate game director Simon Lemay-Comtois, the development team currently has “no plans” for a full-size DLC comparable to expansions offered in earlier Assassin’s Creed titles. Instead, Ubisoft aims to prioritise smaller, more frequent updates that respond directly to player feedback and ongoing community engagement.
This decision comes amid mixed reactions to Claws of Awaji, which some players felt suffered from technical issues and uneven polish. While Ubisoft has not directly tied those concerns to the cancellation of a second major DLC, various reports suggest that the studio is taking a more cautious and reactive approach to Assassin's Creed Shadows continued development. Rather than committing to large expansions in advance, Ubisoft now appears focused on improving the game’s foundation and delivering meaningful content at a more manageable scale throughout the year.
Despite the absence of a traditional second expansion, Ubisoft assures players that Assassin's Creed Shadows will continue to receive substantive post-launch support. Planned updates for 2026 are described as “chunkier” than routine patches, potentially including new missions, gameplay improvements, and additional quality-of-life enhancements. While these updates may not match the scope of a full story DLC, they represent Ubisoft’s effort to maintain long-term player interest through steady, community-influenced development.
Although no major DLC is planned at the moment, Ubisoft has left the door open for future changes depending on player demand and the game’s evolving direction. For now, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is shifting toward a live-service-style support model—lighter on massive expansions, but heavier on consistent, player-driven updates.
