Unannounced monsters are coming to Monster Hunter Wilds
The open beta for Monster Hunter Wilds is finally live and has already opened with a bang, reaching nearly half a million concurrent players and making it the fourth most-played game on Steam. This is somewhat surprising, as the recently announced PC requirements for Monster Hunter Wilds were initially met with mixed reactions from the community due to the game's high spec demands.
Nevertheless, players seem excited to revisit this iconic franchise, and things are going well for both the players and Capcom. However, as with any major release, curious players quickly dove into the game's files once the open beta launched and discovered a list of returning monsters that Capcom has yet to announce.

Monster Hunter Wilds was announced during The Game Awards in 2023 and will be the first game in the franchise to launch simultaneously on all platforms. Unlike previous Monster Hunter games, where quests began with players choosing a target and location, Monster Hunter Wilds features a large open world that allows players to freely move between areas. Players can seamlessly transition between the expansive wilderness and their hunter village, where they can cook food, replenish supplies, and craft new gear. Quests now begin with players locating their targets directly in the wilds.
Leaked monsters reveal
Shared by Reddit user hte_Dongening2 on the GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit, the series has used the same IDs for monsters across its entire history, allowing dataminers to quickly identify which monsters are likely making a comeback. According to the leak, there are a total of four unannounced monsters in the game's data, some of which are fan favorites that haven’t appeared in the series for quite some time.
The following monsters were datamined from the open beta:
- 0005 Gravios (Monster Hunter 1, not seen since Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate)
- 0009 Gypceros (Monster Hunter 1, not seen since Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate)
- 0070 Nerscylla (Monster Hunter 4, not seen since Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate)
- 0071 Gore Magala (Monster Hunter 4, previously appeared in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak)
It’s worth noting that, even though the IDs for these monsters are present in the beta’s data, this doesn’t guarantee they will appear in the final game, so keep your expectations in check. The opposite can also be said—if your favorite monster doesn’t appear in the beta or its data, there’s still a chance it could be added in the future, so don’t lose hope just yet.
The beta lasts until November 4th, so there’s still time to jump in if you’re quick enough. Don’t forget to use our comparator to find the best Monster Hunter Wilds pre-order deal! The game is set to release on February 28, 2025, and is shaping up to be one of the best titles for next year, so don’t miss out.
