Monster Hunter Wilds: Character Edit Changes in Ascendance

As Capcom continues preparing for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, the company has revealed another notable change that will arrive around the expansion's launch in 2027. This time, instead of new monsters, locations, or other Ascendance content, the focus is on Character Edit in Monster Hunter Wilds, as the current voucher system is set to be phased out and players will gain more freedom to change their Hunter's appearance.

How will Character Edit change when Ascendance launches?

According to Capcom's latest announcement, once Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance launches, players will be able to edit their Hunter's appearance as many times as they want, completely free of charge and without needing a Character Edit Voucher. The change will be introduced through the Ver. 2 Update, which will release alongside Ascendance and will also apply to the base version of Monster Hunter Wilds.

This also means players will not need to own Ascendance just to use the new Character Edit system.

At this point, Capcom has not announced any new hairstyles, presets, sliders, or other character creation options for Character Edit. The announcement is focused entirely on changing how the system works: removing the voucher-based restriction and allowing players to return and edit their Hunter more freely. As part of this transition, the current Character Edit Voucher system will begin its phase-out ahead of the arrival of Ver. 2.

The transition period will begin on December 3, 2026. From that date, Capcom will end the distribution of Character Edit Vouchers across all platforms, although players will still be able to use any vouchers they already own until Ascendance launches.

To make sure players still have enough vouchers during the waiting period, the December 3 update will automatically provide:

• 10 Character Edit Vouchers
• 10 Palico Edit Vouchers

These will be added directly to each player's existing voucher balance after updating the game.

Capcom will also discontinue several products tied to the old system, including three-voucher packs for Character Edit, Palico Edit, and the combined Hunter and Palico option. Several Single Voucher versions previously distributed as Free Gifts or Free Trials will also be removed from distribution.

There is also something for players who previously paid for Character Edit Vouchers. Capcom will send eligible accounts a special appreciation reward called the Special Thank-You Pendant Set.

The set includes:

• Pendant: Heavenly Hog
• Pendant: Beelzeboar

Players who previously purchased the Character & Palico Edit Voucher: Three-Voucher Pack, Character Edit Voucher: Three-Voucher Pack, or Palico Edit Voucher: Three-Voucher Pack will automatically receive the rewards after installing the December 3 update. However, Capcom also notes that these two pendants may become available separately at a later date.

While these changes do not directly add any new monster-hunting content, they affect a system that has been part of Monster Hunter Wilds since launch. Removing the voucher requirement will turn Character Edit into a feature players can use much more freely, rather than tying every appearance change to a consumable item.
