Rockstar Unveils GTA 6 Cover Art and Fresh Vice City Look

Rockstar reveals GTA 6 cover art and new Vice City visuals

The agonizingly long wait for Grand Theft Auto VI is finally entering its final stretch. In a surprise announcement, Rockstar Games has officially blown the doors off its upcoming open-world crime epic, revealing the game’s official cover art and announcing that pre-orders will launch on June 25, 2026.

This major update arrives alongside confirmation from Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick that the title is firmly locked in for a global release on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. After years of speculation, leaks, and delays, fans now have concrete dates to circle on their calendars.

A classic mosaic with a Sunshine State twist

The newly revealed box art embraces the classic, stylized "comic book mosaic" tradition that has defined the franchise's covers since 2001's Grand Theft Auto III. It is an almost shot-for-shot homage to the original Grand Theft Auto: Vice City box art, spliced with neon-soaked imagery that screams modern-day Florida—or rather, the fictional state of Leonida.

The cover features prominently the game's dual protagonists, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, alongside staples of the high-octane GTA lifestyle: a roaring speedboat, a sleek sports car, a chopper cutting through the sky, and men on motorcycles. Leaning heavily into its setting's "Florida Man" energy, the cover even features an alligator. Eagle-eyed fans have already spotted a tiny detail on the cover: a bikini-clad woman sporting a tattoo that reads "Vice Baby," cementing the return to the series' iconic sun-drenched metropolis.

A living, breathing Vice City revealed

However, the cover art is only part of today's reveal. Equally noteworthy is the expanded Vice City presentation now available on Rockstar's official GTA VI website. The updated site offers a broader overview of the fictional state of Leonida and showcases a significantly larger and more diverse version of Vice City than fans have previously seen.

The city retains the unmistakable DNA of its 1980s predecessor, with beachfront skylines, luxury hotels, nightlife districts, marinas, and crowded coastal boulevards. Yet the modern interpretation appears vastly more detailed and densely populated. New screenshots and environmental footage highlight bustling waterfront districts, illuminated downtown corridors, crowded public spaces, and an impressive level of urban density that suggests Rockstar is aiming for its most ambitious city simulation to date.

What stands out most in the website's overview is how Vice City now functions as only one piece of a much larger ecosystem. Rockstar describes Leonida as a diverse state composed of multiple regions beyond the metropolitan core, reinforcing the idea that GTA VI's map extends far beyond the city limits. The result is a setting that feels less like a single urban playground and more like a living state with interconnected communities, highways, wilderness areas, industrial zones, and coastal environments.

Visually, the new material demonstrates a remarkable emphasis on atmosphere. Sunlight reflects off glass towers and ocean surfaces with striking realism, while nighttime scenes showcase vibrant lighting and dense traffic patterns. The city appears simultaneously glamorous and chaotic, capturing the contrast between luxury tourism and criminal enterprise that has long been central to the Vice City identity.

With pre-orders opening in less than a week, the promotional machine for the decade's most anticipated video game is officially firing on all cylinders. Remember that you can use our comparator to pre-order Grand Theft Auto VI at the cheapest price from next week.
