Sony reveals a Gran Turismo 30th anniversary DualSense for racing fans

Sony celebrates 30 years of Gran Turismo with a sleek new DualSense design

PlayStation is celebrating three decades of Gran Turismo with a limited-edition DualSense Wireless Controller inspired by the long-running racing franchise. Featuring motorsport-inspired graphics and a carbon fiber-like finish, the new controller will be available worldwide in limited quantities, with pre-orders opening on October 22 ahead of its December release.

The special edition takes a different approach from Sony's standard DualSense designs, drawing inspiration from the visual language of racing cars. Two black racing stripes run across the touchpad, while the front shell features a carbon fiber-style pattern alongside graphics inspired by motorsports. The shoulder buttons, triggers, and rear casing retain a plain black finish, keeping the more elaborate detailing concentrated on the front.

Officially named the DualSense Wireless Controller – Gran Turismo Limited Edition, the accessory will cost $84.99 in the US, €84.99 in the Eurozone, £74.99 in the UK, and ¥12,480 in Japan. Pre-orders begin October 22 at 10 AM local time, with the US announcement specifying a 10 AM ET start. The controller is scheduled to launch globally on December 10.

Availability through PlayStation's official storefront will vary by region. Customers in the US can order through direct.playstation.com, while buyers in the UK, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg can place orders through their respective PlayStation websites.

The controller announcement also coincides with new content for Gran Turismo 7. PlayStation has announced a free update arriving on October 15, adding six vehicles alongside new World Circuit events, an Experience Mode, and additional car-viewing features. The update gives fans another reason to return to the track as the franchise marks its 30th anniversary.

This isn't the only special-edition DualSense controller PlayStation has announced recently. Last month, Sony and Rockstar revealed two limited-edition controllers inspired by Grand Theft Auto VI and its neon-soaked Vice City setting. While those designs cater to fans anticipating Rockstar's next blockbuster, the new Gran Turismo edition is aimed squarely at racing enthusiasts and collectors.
