Rockstar confirms that Grand Theft Auto VI is in the works

There's been a lot of speculation about the future of the Grand Theft Auto series. Rockstar Games has developed a wide variety of video games since they launched the first Grand Theft Auto in 1997. The most popular among these include L.A. Noire, Bully, and the Max Payne series, but they all are eclipsed when compared to the GTA series, whose popularity reached its maximum with Grand Theft Auto V. Open world, freedom of choice, and the possibility of doing almost anything you want in a fictional representation of a huge urban area are the main features that have made GTA V one of the greatest hits of all time. The game is so popular that Rockstar continues to launch in-game events and DLCs nine years after release. But the fans want more.

Rumors about a new installment in the series have already been circulating for a long time, but Rockstar Games never said anything about Grand Theft Auto VI. At least until now. The latest community update has served to bring some news about the future of GTA V, but the most important part was at the end of the update, where Rockstar finally confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI is under development.

"With the unprecedented longevity of GTAV, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered — and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway."

Sadly, we didn't get to know any details about the game, but it things that things are finally in motion, and we may discover a few things about GTA VI in the coming months. If we take into consideration that GTA V continues to have a huge and stable player base, it's expected that Rockstar is taking its time to develop a new game. The studio has to deliver an experience that doesn't disappoint millions of players and surpass previous installments, and that's not easy to achieve.
