Far Cry 6 is free for the weekend

Would you care to take a trip to Yara for the weekend? Ubisoft’s open-world FPS Far Cry 6 is free to play for the weekend of March 24 to March 27. That’s three full days of guns, goons, and gold.

To not waste time, you may preload the game from the Epic Store and Ubisoft Connect starting today. If you like the game, you can purchase it at a discounted price, and your saves will carry over.

Far Cry 6 has a wealth of additional content as well. There are now extra missions that feature actor Danny Trejo and action hero Rambo. Another expansion includes a trip into the minds of iconic villains from previous Far Cry games.

But the latest update may prove the strangest of all—a cross-over with the TV show Stranger Things. Check out the IGN trailer now:

The upcoming DLC is called The Vanishing, and features a storyline that has protagonist Dani searching for the missing people in Yara, including beloved companion dog, Chorizo. Of course, anyone with half a heart would drop everything to search for this adorable pup, but things are going to be even harder than usual on the island.

The Vanishing is described as a stealth-horror-survival-shooter, with parts of Yara resembling the show’s nightmare dimension called the Upside-Down, which closely resembles Silent Hill’s own foggy, monster-filled dimension. You’ll be able to explore “a hidden bunker and an abandoned laboratory.” You also access new skins for the flamethrower and shotgun. But above all, you must find the dog.

You can preload the game from today, Thursday, March 24, at 11 am PDT/2 pm EDT/6 pm GMT. You can do so for all available platforms and from the Ubisoft and Epic Games sites. The free game event will end on Monday, March 28, at the same time it started.
