Extended Operations: A free DLc for 007 First Light

007 First Light gets a free DLC packed with new missions
Updates & Patches

The huge success of his latest adventure isn't giving the most famous spy any respite. James Bond has barely had time to put his martini down, and IO Interactive is already giving him more work to do. 007 First Light has received its first major free DLC, Extended Operations. It expands the game experience with new missions, New Game+, a new 00 difficulty, Photo Mode, and a surprisingly enormous list of fixes and improvements. The new content is available now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Best of all, players don't need to pay anything to get their hands on it.

A plethora of novelties

Extended Operations introduces a new TacSim operation called Valhalla Protocol, which puts Bond behind the wheel of the Aston Martin Valhalla. The operation takes place across the Slovakian countryside and it features four different mission variants. Players can combine high-speed driving with combat while trying to achieve better scores and competing on online leaderboards. It's a fitting excuse to take one of Bond's most impressive cars for another spin.

The DLC also adds a second TacSim operation, Jungle Heist, which is set at The Pearl in Vietnam. In this case, Bond's objective is to infiltrate a villa and steal important documents from a safe. As with other TacSim activities, replayability is part of the appeal, giving players an opportunity to experiment with different approaches.

Finished the campaign already? New Game+ is probably the update you've been waiting for. Once the main story has been completed on any difficulty, players can jump back into the campaign with additional options that make subsequent playthroughs more flexible. Bond can change his outfit during missions and switch gadgets when necessary, opening up more opportunities to approach encounters differently.

For those who find 007: First Light too easy, IO Interactive has added 00 difficulty, which is aimed at players looking for a significantly tougher challenge.

Another welcome addition is the Photo Mode, which allows players to freeze the action and frame their favourite moments. The update also expands the TacSim arsenal with the Storm 12 Gauge and Squire Marksman Rifle, and three new outfits give players more ways to dress for the occasion.

Extended Operations isn't just about shiny new toys. IO Interactive has packed Update 1.3.0 with more than 700 fixes and improvements. Those cover all sorts of problems, ranging from crashes and progression problems to animation, audio, interface, localisation and visual issues. Weapon animations have also been overhauled, with improvements to reloading, aiming transitions, weapon swapping and throwing.

Extended Operations is a substantial addition for 007 First Light after launch. For anyone who has already completed the game, it looks like a good excuse to dust off Bond's tuxedo and head back into the field.
