007 First Light Has Surpassed 4 Million Copies Sold

007 First Light confirms its success with over 4 million sold
Industry

IO Interactive has another reason to celebrate. 007 First Light has officially surpassed 4 million copies sold worldwide, reaching the impressive milestone only a few months after its launch and establishing the James Bond adventure as one of 2026's fastest-selling premium games.

The announcement marks a major achievement for IO Interactive, particularly because 007 First Light represents the studio's first full-fledged take on the legendary secret agent. Rather than simply turning Bond into another excuse for explosions and tuxedos, IO Interactive built an original origin story around a younger James Bond, combining cinematic action with the studio's expertise in stealth and sandbox gameplay.

A hit from the very beginning

The game's commercial momentum was already obvious shortly after launch. 007 First Light sold around 1.5 million copies during its first 24 hours, before passing 2.7 million units during its first week. Reaching 4 million sales roughly three months after its May 27 release shows that interest has continued well beyond the initial launch window.

IO Interactive has described the achievement as evidence of the "overwhelming global enthusiasm" surrounding 007 First Light. The studio also highlighted the game's critical and commercial performance across its current platforms, arguing that the sustained sales demonstrate the enduring appeal of James Bond and the positive response to its particular vision for the character.

And Bond isn't putting his Walther PPK away just yet. IO Interactive has already outlined plans for additional content during the game's first year, including new Tactical Simulation challenges, new gameplay scenarios, weapons, gadgets and cosmetics. The studio is also looking at further additions such as New Game+, giving players more reasons to return to the campaign. Also, there is another potentially significant boost that could arrive later on, too. A Nintendo Switch 2 version of 007 First Light is planned for later in 2026, meaning the current 4-million sales figure may only be the start.

For IO Interactive, the milestone is particularly meaningful. The studio took a franchise with decades of history, handed players a Bond who is still learning how to be Bond, and somehow convinced millions of players to join him on the journey. Four million copies later, it looks like that gamble has paid off rather spectacularly.

If 007 First Light can maintain even a fraction of its current momentum, IO Interactive may have laid the foundation for a new era of 007 adventures and given Bond a very comfortable new home in the world of gaming.
