FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

: How does the 'dynamic campaign map' in Company of Heroes 3 influence the strategic choices available to the player, and how does it differ from traditional RTS campaign structures?
The dynamic campaign map provides a turn-based strategic layer where players control territories, manage resources, and engage in tactical battles. Unlike linear campaigns, players can choose their path, face emergent events, and decide where and when to engage enemy forces. This offers replayability and strategic depth by allowing players to shape the overall campaign.; Explain the 'Italian Dynamic Campaign's' unique feature of faction alliances and how it affects the player's strategic decisions during the campaign.
In the Italian campaign, players can form alliances with various factions, such as the partisan resistance. These alliances grant access to unique units, abilities, and strategic advantages, but also impose limitations and create diplomatic consequences, forcing players to carefully manage their relationships and make difficult choices that affect their campaign progress.; How does the 'Full Tactical Pause' feature fundamentally change the way players approach combat encounters in Company of Heroes 3?
The 'Full Tactical Pause' enables players to halt the action at any moment and issue multiple commands to their units simultaneously. This feature provides enhanced tactical control, allowing for precise coordination of complex maneuvers, the execution of combined arms tactics, and a greater emphasis on strategic planning during intense combat scenarios.; Describe the core function of the 'destruction' system and its impact on the battlefield and tactical gameplay.
The destruction system allows for a highly interactive battlefield where buildings and environments can be damaged and destroyed. This significantly impacts the gameplay by altering cover, creating new pathways, and forcing players to adapt their strategies based on the evolving landscape, creating dynamic and unpredictable combat situations.; What is the primary function of the 'veterancy' system and how does it influence unit performance and tactical decision-making?
The veterancy system enhances units' combat effectiveness as they gain experience through battles. Veteran units gain improved stats, access to new abilities, and increased survivability. This system incentivizes players to protect their experienced units and carefully manage their deployment, creating a deeper level of tactical decision-making.; How do the diverse 'faction' units, such as the Wehrmacht, US Forces, and others, offer unique gameplay styles and what are some key differences?
Each faction possesses a unique roster of units, abilities, and doctrines, offering distinct gameplay styles. For instance, the Wehrmacht may emphasize heavy armor and defensive positions, while US Forces may focus on combined arms tactics and aggressive maneuvers. These differences create diverse strategic options and ensure that players must adapt their tactics based on the faction they choose or face.; Explain the role of 'off-map abilities' and how they influence the flow of combat and strategic planning.
Off-map abilities, such as artillery strikes and air support, provide players with powerful tactical options. These abilities allow players to influence the battlefield from a distance, disrupt enemy positions, and turn the tide of battle. Carefully choosing the timing and targets for off-map abilities is critical to effective strategic planning.; How does the 'supply' system function in the context of the dynamic campaign, and what strategic decisions does it force the player to make?
The supply system in the dynamic campaign restricts the number of units and abilities available to the player based on their control of supply lines and resource management. Players must strategically secure and maintain supply routes, make careful choices about unit composition, and prioritize resource allocation to sustain their war effort and progress through the campaign.; How does the 'combined arms' approach function in Company of Heroes 3, and what benefits does it bring to the player's strategy?
Combined arms involves coordinating different unit types (infantry, tanks, artillery, aircraft) to maximize their strengths and cover their weaknesses. This approach allows players to create powerful offensive and defensive combinations. Successful combined arms strategies often involve careful timing, positioning, and unit synergy to gain a decisive advantage in combat.; What is the function of 'doctrines' and how do they influence a player's strategic choices and unit compositions within battles?
Doctrines represent specialized branches of military strategy, providing players with unique abilities, unit upgrades, and gameplay styles. Players choose doctrines before or during matches. Doctrines encourage players to specialize in certain areas, influence the units available, and provide unique tactical options, making for a deeper and more customizable strategic experience.

Excellent game, even if I'm not a fan of this style, you'll quickly get used to it

Not being an expert in the "strategy" type of game, I had a little trouble with this one too, although once you learn the essential mechanics, it becomes really fun!

The visuals are fantastic with the small effects of glass shattering from buildings to walls grumbling under fire. The voice acting is onpoint with good lines.

Some imperfections but nothing shocking. A few updates will not be too much as usual but if you liked 1 or 2, go for the 3rd one.

Considering the 17-year span between the first and current Company of Heroes games, it's a little surprising that there have only been three entries in the franchise. I actually think it's for the best, as each new game has been worth the wait. For Company of Heroes 3, Relic has turned to Italy for one of his two major campaigns and North Africa for the other (where you play as the Axis forces). OK, at war!

Company of Heroes returns with the 3rd entry in the franchise. This title will bring even more diversity in strategic combat where we can manage supply lines and have control over a large area of the frontline

After 10 years of waiting, the best RTS ever returns at last. Given the quality and consistent support of the previous chapters, a must have!
