After releasing a new gameplay video that showed Pinocchio fighting against some nasty steampunk monsters, Lies of P developer NeoWiz Games has provided a more accurate release window for its upcoming adventure. The announcement has been made yesterday during IGN Fan Fest through a new video that also shows new footage of the game, this time focused on the "cruel, dark Belle Époque world where you play as Pinocchio". According to the video, Lies of P will launch next August, but the studio has not revealed a specific release date. In any case, you should be able to immerse yourself in this epic reinterpretation of the classic tale soon enough.
A darker story
Lies of P seems to have very little to do with Pinocchio's original tale as we know it. In the game, we jump into a Pinocchio that wakes up at an abandoned train station with a note that reads "Find Mr. Geppetto. He's here in the city." Even though he matches his Disney counterpart's desire for becoming human, the protagonist of Lies of P looks like a stylish youngster that is very capable of defending himself from the threats that the dark streets of the city of Krat will throw at him. We have seen him fighting with a variety of weapons, including some spectacular devices that he can craft by combining different pieces.
The Pinocchio in Lies of P is not a harmless wooden puppet, and he will do anything it takes to achieve his goal. That includes, of course, lying, but also modifying his own body with mechanical parts for different purposes.
