Forspoken has been delayed to October

Sad news for gamers waiting patiently for Luminous Productions and Square Enix’s newest game, Forspoken. The development team has stated that they are pushing back release by almost five months, to Oct. 11.

“Our vision for this exciting new IP is to deliver a game world and hero that gamers across the globe will want to experience for years to come, so getting it right is extremely important for us. To that end, during the next few months we will focus all of our efforts on polishing the game and can’t wait for you all to experience Frey’s journey this fall.”

The delay had been leaked a week before, and it turns out that the information is accurate. Given that Forspoken is a brand new IP, it makes sense for Square Enix to make the game as good as it can get, even if it faces a long delay. The only thing we can hold out for is that they will release more information about the game itself, perhaps through a PS5 State of Play event.

If you recall, Forspoken had only been given a launch date last December. Since then, we’ve been treated to some trailers, story details, and gameplay tidbits, but  not a whole lot of information. Sadly, we’ll have to endure a few more months to find out if Forspoken is indeed worth the hype.

Forspoken introduces us to Frey, a troubled young woman who is pulled from her home to a strange new world called Athia, where she finds she has magical powers. Aided by a bracelet known as Cuff, she must rid the land of a spreading corruption that has tainted even Athia’s powerful leaders, the Tantas. Forspoken is notable for its ambitious graphics and its deep reliance on magic, as shown by Frey’s abilities to parkour through landscapes, conjure fiery spells, and make ice spikes explode from the ground.

Forspoken will now launch on Oct. 11 instead of this month for PlayStation 5 and Windows PC. Check out the best prices for a Forspoken code for all available platforms.
