Alone in the Dark has been delayed to 2024

The journey back to Decerto mansion in the new Alone in the Dark is going to take much longer than we anticipated due to a recent announcement from developer Pieces Interactive. Originally, the fans of the survival horror adventure created by Infogrames in 1992 were going to enjoy a new version of the classic on October 25, right in time for Halloween. Unfortunately, it seems that Alone in the Dark won't be released on the appointed date due to very specific circumstances and it won't arrive until next year.

A busy month

The reason behind such a delay is no other than the release of other important titles, namely Alan Wake 2 and Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

“Our intention is to avoid competing with the wake of Alan's epic release and to evade the dazzling skyline of cities adorned by the graceful swings of Spider-Man. We aim to truly remain as Alone in the Dark as possible. To honor this, the spine-chilling horror game has been rescheduled to unveil its horrors on January 16th, 2024. This extension will serve a dual purpose: not only will it permit us to meticulously perfect the gaming experience, but it will also grant us the opportunity to fully immerse ourselves in the remarkable releases of October.”

It's easy to understand that Pieces Interactive aims for the best possible release date to make Alone in the Dark a success, even though the delay will leave the fans with plenty of free time. At least, it's good to know that the developer studio is using that time to polish the game and make sure it delivers an outstanding experience.

The studio has left us with a new trailer starring David Harbour as detective Edward Carnby, one of the protagonists of Alone in the Dark.
