REKA 1.0 Launches Officially, Ending Reka and Baba Jaga’s Tale

REKA 1.0 Officially Launches, Concluding Reka and Baba Jaga's Story
Updates & Patches

After more than two years in Early Access, REKA officially launched its 1.0 version on PC (Steam) on October 26, 2026. Developed by Emberstorm Entertainment and published by Fireshine Games and Shochiku, this Slavic folklore-inspired adventure invites players into a world of mysterious forests, ancient magic, and a wandering cottage perched on chicken legs. More importantly, the full release not only brings Reka and Baba Jaga's story to its conclusion but also introduces a wide range of improvements to the game's core mechanics.

A Major Building Overhaul and Other Notable Improvements in REKA 1.0

One of the most significant additions in version 1.0 is the final chapter of Reka's journey as an apprentice witch under the guidance of the legendary Baba Jaga. After the challenges and quests introduced throughout Early Access, players can now experience the complete story and discover how her adventure comes to an end. The narrative also benefits from the involvement of Rhianna Pratchett as Lead Writer, known for her previous work on games such as Tomb Raider.

Alongside the completed storyline, Emberstorm Entertainment has expanded exploration with additional side quests, shrines, collectibles, and new points of interest. These additions give players more reasons to venture through forests and villages, offering fresh discoveries beyond the main questline.

However, the most substantial gameplay improvements revolve around the building system for Reka's iconic chicken-legged cottage. More than just a shelter, this unusual home accompanies players throughout their adventures and can be customized to suit their preferences. As part of the development leading up to version 1.0, the team introduced several notable upgrades:

  • New materials and decorations: Additional wood types, including spruce, birch, beech, and pine, alongside clay, new furniture, and decorative items.
  • Faster building and editing: Players can now drag to place or delete multiple building pieces at once, reducing repetitive actions.
  • More precise placement: A new rotation compass makes it easier to track object orientation, while improved snapping helps building components align and connect more naturally.
  • Better roofing tools: Refined roof construction mechanics offer greater flexibility when designing buildings with more complex structures.

Together, these improvements make building and decorating more convenient without sacrificing creative freedom. While Cozy Builder focuses on building homes experiments against a peaceful countryside backdrop, and The Witch's Bakery explores the life of a witch, REKA blends creative building with an adventure deeply rooted in Slavic mythology.

The world beyond the cottage has also received plenty of attention. Improved wind effects, moths gathering around light sources at night, footprints left on the ground, and new water splash effects all make the environment feel more alive. Reka's breath is now visible in cold weather, while her clothes can become wet in the rain. Although these details do not fundamentally change the gameplay, they add another layer of atmosphere to the game's peaceful yet slightly eerie autumn landscapes.

Beyond the new content and visual enhancements, the full release also incorporates several technical and quality-of-life improvements. The autosave system helps preserve progress during quests and house-building activities, with adjustable save intervals available in the settings. Performance has also been optimized, particularly around larger buildings and villages with numerous light sources. Additionally, REKA now supports Japanese localization and features 21 Steam achievements, which can reward players with commemorative plaques to decorate their cottage.

Originally scheduled for August 18, REKA 1.0 was delayed until October to give the development team additional time to address bugs and polish the overall experience. To celebrate the full release, the game is currently available at a 35% discount on Steam until November 7, 2026.

For me, the most appealing aspect of version 1.0 is not simply the chance to finally see how Reka and Baba Jaga's story concludes, but how the improvements to building and exploration make this magical world feel more complete. For anyone who enjoys relaxing adventures filled with folklore, mystery, and creative freedom, this could be the perfect time to discover REKA.
