Vampire Survivors: Legacy of the Bloodmoon is due to release tomorrow

The blood moon is rising, and Vampire Survivors is ready to make things considerably more chaotic. Developer poncle has unveiled the official launch trailer for Vampire Survivors: Legacy of the Bloodmoon, the game's next major DLC, which is set to arrive tomorrow, August 28.

The Bloodmoon clan enters the stage

The new trailer provides a final glimpse at the strange and sinister adventure awaiting players in Red Moon Manor, a brand-new XL stage filled with enemies, secrets and plenty of opportunities to turn the screen into an indecipherable storm of weapons and damage numbers. The expansion features the mysterious Order of the Red Moon, whose founder, Saint Baal'Thasar, disappeared centuries ago after embarking on a pilgrimage in search of a paradise he believed was illuminated by an enormous red moon. Naturally, things didn't quite work out as planned.

Now, the Bloodmoon clan has picked up the trail. Players will follow characters including Malice Bloodmoon, Calogero Bloodmoon, Baal'Thasar, Ashtart and Sargon as they investigate the Order's ancient secrets. With a cast this colourful, it would be surprising if the expedition went according to plan.

Of course, a new DLC for Vampire Survivors wouldn't be complete without new ways to obliterate enormous numbers of enemies. Legacy of the Bloodmoon adds 12 characters and more than 16 weapons and evolutions, giving players plenty of new toys to experiment with while trying to survive increasingly absurd enemy waves. Among the new weapons, you will find Scarlet Needle, Incineration, Blacken Firmament and FireBall. As always, the fun will come from discovering which combinations work together and then watching the resulting build spiral completely out of control.

The DLC also brings eight new music tracks, expanding the selection already offered by the main game and its other expansions, like Emergency Meeting, Tides of the Foscari, and Legacy of the Moonspell. While the setting may be darker than usual, poncle's trademark combination of gothic imagery, absurd characters and over-the-top action remains firmly intact.
