Overwatch 2 PvP will be shown next week

It's been quite a while since Blizzard announced Overwatch 2 but not much has been revealed about the sequel to their competitive FPS so far. The game was announced back in 2019 and a few of the features that it would bring to the series were detailed then, including co-op missions, a new competitive multiplayer map in which two teams would try to take control of a giant robot and push it into the enemy side, and visual enhancements that would refresh the game's looks. We expected some big reveals during the last BlizzCon but Blizzard has continued to be quite secretive about the game. But nothing lasts forever and with Aaron Keller as the new director of Overwatch after the departure of Jeff Kaplan, it seems that things are going to change.

A new developer update has been published recently and it has served to announce that we will finally be able to watch some Overwatch 2 gameplay. Keller has confirmed that a livestream showing a couple of hours of footage will take place on May 20. Of course, the game is still in development and everything shown can be subject to change but it will be great to finally know what are going to be the big differences between Overwatch and its sequel. Maybe, if we are lucky enough, developers will talk about the transition between both games or the PvE aspect of Overwatch 2.

Whatever the case, it seems that Blizzard is in the mood for revealing information about Overwatch 2, so we should expect to get surprised in the following months. There are many players that are not quite sure of what kind of impact the release of the sequel will have on the current community. Will Overwatch players have to buy the new game? Can they keep playing without a problem? Will there be any kind of crossplay between both games?

There are plenty of questions about Overwatch 2 that still need an answer but the upcoming livestream will start shedding some light on the matter next week.
