The Princess Ranger Takes the Lead in Monster Hunter Stories 3

Capcom has released a brand-new trailer for Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, introducing fans to a different version of the main character: The Princess Ranger. The trailer, aptly titled "The Princess Ranger," gives players a closer look at the game's royal heroine and reveals details about her role within the story's conflict between the kingdoms of Azuria and Vermeil.

A Royal Ranger Emerges

This latest footage highlights the protagonist's transformation from sheltered royalty into a warrior-princess determined to bridge the gap between two rival nations. Her presence also adds a new emotional dimension to the unfolding narrative, suggesting that political alliances and personal loyalties will play a major role in the story's progression.

The trailer also reveals Eleanor, the princess of Vermeil, stepping beyond palace walls to join the fight as a capable Ranger. Mounted on her Monstie companion, Anjanath, Eleanor allies herself with the protagonist, a Rider from Azuria who also happens to be the kingdom's only Rathalos Rider. Together and bonded by their connection to their Rathalos, the pair must navigate a world teetering on the brink of war and unravel the mysteries behind a spreading crystal corruption.

Beyond the cinematic storytelling, the trailer also confirms that players will be able to customize their Rider's appearance, including options for hairstyle, facial features, and eye color. This element, teased briefly in earlier previews, reinforces Capcom’s promise of a more personal and immersive role-playing experience. The addition of customization means players can create a Rider who truly feels like their own, even as the game's lore emphasizes the unique destiny of being the sole Rathalos Rider of Azuria.

A story of conflict and reflection

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is set in a world where ancient tensions are reignited after the birth of twin Rathalos from a single egg, a phenomenon tied to an old war that once tore the continent apart. As monsters begin to vanish and kingdoms turn against one another, the line between legend and prophecy blurs. Eleanor's decision to become a "diplomatic hostage" introduces moral complexity to the tale, exploring how duty and friendship can collide in a time of turmoil.

Capcom confirmed in September that Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection will launch on March 13, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. With its blend of classic Monster Hunter creature companionship and deep storytelling, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection looks poised to deliver the most ambitious entry in the spin-off series to date.
