As the launch of Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection approaches, we can give gamers a clear picture of what to expect from Capcom's latest turn-based RPG. Set to release next Thursday on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, the game features engaging gameplay systems and charming visuals, while only having minor problems in certain areas.

A solid and appealing adventure

Aggregate review scores suggest that the game is landing firmly in the "generally favorable" category. Metacritic scores are hovering in the low-to-mid 80s for most platforms, with Nintendo Switch 2 around 82 and PlayStation 5 around 86, reflecting consistently positive reception from critics. A solid 80 seems a good starting point for its journey for the third installment in the spin-off series.

The game's strategic combat and monster-taming mechanics are its standout features. The turn-based system builds on the rock-paper-scissors foundation of previous Monster Hunter Stories titles, adding layers of tactical depth that rewards careful planning. Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection features a vibrant, anime-inspired art stylethat contributes to making it stand out in the crowded monster-taming genre.

Another key point is its accessibility for newcomers. It does not matter if you have experience with previous entries in the Monster Hunter Stories series; you can just jump into the game and enjoy its mechanics and exciting storyline, making it appealing to a broader audience of RPG and monster-collection fans.

On the tecnical side, the game performs quite decently on most platforms, although it presents occasional frame-rate issues on Nintendo Switch 2. However, those minor problems could be adressed via a post-launch update, leaving the game in a better position.

Overall, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is a strong addition to the sub-series and a promising RPG release for early 2026. If you are looking for a Monster Hunter adventure that is less about fighting and more about establishing bonds with amazing creatures as you progress through a thrilling story, this is definitely a game for you. The game is getting good reviews, and I think that's justified. The game's AD is really pretty, accompanied by a nice soundtrack. I think all the elements (apart from the visuals) are there to make this a cool RPG.

This third opus goes even further than the first two. Between the story, the side quests, the exploration of the different zones and, above all, the collection of Monsties, there's plenty of time to spend. The system remains as solid as ever, and turn-based combat is effective. Visually, the game is beautiful, runs smoothly and is a pleasure to play. The game should clearly appeal to fans of the Monster Hunter universe, but also to newcomers thanks to its accessibility. The only major drawback is the absence of VF.

Well, I don't quite understand the positive reviews. The game feels low budget due to simple towns, somewhat desolate fields and recycled elements from the previous game, so I recommend buying it when it's on sale.

After the huge success of Resident Evil Requiem, this title has also attracted the attention of both the public and critics as a truly high-profile game, despite belonging to a spin-off series considered secondary to the main one, which in the meantime has continued with Monster Hunter Wilds. It looks like Capcom has hit the jackpot again these days, considering that its Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is also garnering extremely positive reviews from the press in the first reviews that have surfaced online.

MHS 3 Twisted Reflection appeals above all for its strategic combat, more mature story and superb environments. Many also like the monster collection and progression. On the other hand, some report FPS drops, a few crashes and regret the absence of multiplayer. Despite this, the overall opinion remains rather positive on Metacritic 85/100 for the press and 8.1/10 for users.

Based on player feedback and my limited experience from the demo, Monster Hunter Stories 3 seems to be a rich and strategic JRPG, focused on raising and fighting monsters. The turn-based system seems to offer an interesting tactical depth, and the possibility of evolving and merging its monsters adds variety. The game world is colorful and alive, with diverse regions and successful monster designs. The story is considered more elaborate than in previous installments, with endearing characters. Some players nevertheless highlight repetitive side quests and some performance issues depending on the platforms. Although I only tested the demo, the whole thing feels like a captivating and accessible game, ideal for fans and newcomers

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection looks very promising for fans of the series. The mix of monster bonding, exploration, and strategic turn-based combat seems like a great evolution of the previous games, and the story about the twin Rathalos adds an interesting twist to the Monster Hunter universe.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is the newest entry in the Monster Hunter Stories RPG series, where you play as a Rider who bonds with monsters and explores a world shaped by fate and conflict. It introduces twin Rathalos born under mysterious circumstances and expands the classic formula with deeper systems, richer environments, and a more dramatic storyline. Well all in all nice anime grapichs and also nice sounds with music. All in all good game 4/5 Stars for big fans.

The mix of monster collecting and strategic turn-based combat has always been one of the most unique parts of the series. It’s great to see the game getting positive reviews and building on the mechanics from the previous titles. The art style and the idea of forming bonds with Monsties while exploring a big RPG world sound especially promising. Hopefully the minor technical issues get patched quickly, because this looks like a fantastic entry for both longtime fans and newcomers.
