Guild Wars 2 is coming to Steam and it's getting a new expansion

It's been quite a few years since Guild Wars 2 received an expansion but that doesn't mean that NCSOFT's MMORPG has been devoid of new content. After Hearth of Thorns and Path of Fire, the developers focused on the Living World content in the game and have been adding things to do through smaller updates, but it was about time that Guild Wars 2 was getting a major expansion. End of Dragons is a new addon that will focus on the south of Tyria, where the players will delve into the Jade Sea to discover its secrets. Not much else has been revealed about the expansion but you can expect to find new enemies, new armor and weapons, and more as you explore the southern island region of Cantha.

Also, Guild Wars 2 is celebrating its anniversary, and the developers couldn't have chosen a better moment to reveal that the game will become available on Steam in November. Players that are currently using a Guild Wars 2 account will share the world of Tyria with players playing on Steam, but it won't be possible to convert an existing Guild Wars 2 account to a Steam account or vice versa. Chauncey Gammage, NCSOFT West Chief Operating Officer talks about the announcement in a statement.

“Guild Wars 2 has endured for the better part of a decade because of its innovative gameplay, rich storytelling, and passionate fanbase. As the game’s incredible fantasy world prepares to grow once again with the End of Dragons expansion, we are excited to bring this universally acclaimed gaming experience to Steam users around the globe.”

The release of End of Dragons is scheduled for 2021 but Guild Wars 2 has plenty of content for you to explore while adventuring in Tyria. Even more, you can now travel swiftly underwater while you are riding your Skimmer, which has received some new abilities in the latest patch.
