FF7 Rebirth and Part 3 officially announced for Xbox
The Final Fantasy VII Remake project is finally expanding beyond PlayStation as Square Enix begins rolling out the saga across multiple platforms. With Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade now available on Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2, the big question has been when Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and the trilogy’s final chapter will follow—and now, fans have gotten the clearest confirmation yet.
In a new post on X, series director Naoki Hamaguchi announced that both Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and the still-untitled Part 3 are officially coming to Xbox. The director expressed his gratitude to Xbox players for jumping into The Final Fantasy VII Remake for the first time and personally thanked Sarah Bond and Phil Spencer for championing the series. This aligns with comments he made in late 2025, stating that the franchise would continue expanding to all major platforms, including PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC.

Xbox Release Likely Targeting Summer 2026
While Hamaguchi confirmed that development of the Xbox versions is underway, he did not provide a release window. However, recent reports suggest that the Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is slated for summer 2026, and insiders claim the Xbox launch will coincide with it. If accurate, players can expect Final Fantasy VII Rebirth to arrive on Xbox around the same time, ending a long wait for fans outside the PlayStation ecosystem.
This is not the only major update circulating. In a separate interview with GameSpot, Hamaguchi revealed that the official title for Part 3 has already been finalized—though he stopped short of revealing the name. He also confirmed that, rather than shifting the final chapter to Unreal Engine 5, Square Enix will continue using a customized version of Unreal Engine 4, citing team familiarity and the engine’s proven stability across modern platforms.
Part 3 will also see the return of Queen’s Blood, the popular card-based mini-game introduced in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, now expanded with new improvements.
With the remake saga now fully set to reach all major consoles, the next few years promise to be significant for both long-time fans and new players discovering the series for the first time.
