DOOM: The Dark Ages Gets New Video Footage from NVIDIA
NVIDIA is making waves at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025, one of the world's largest tech events. During the occasion, the company unveiled its new GeForce RTX 50 graphics cards and the groundbreaking DLSS 4 technology. NVIDIA presented clips from various games to showcase these innovations, with the spotlight landing on DOOM: The Dark Ages. This id Software title, which had been off the radar for a while, employs advanced features like Multi-Frame Generation and Ray Reconstruction, a technology also set to debut in the upcoming The Witcher IV.
The new DOOM game was silent for six months, with little available information. However, NVIDIA confirmed it runs on the latest id Tech engine. Whether this is an evolution of id Tech 7 or an entirely new technology remains unclear. The last mainline entry in the series was DOOM Eternal, released in 2020.
NVIDIA Highlights Games Powered by Its Latest Technologies
The video showcases a variety of environments with advanced lighting effects and numerous soldiers gearing up for battle. The soldiers' iconic armor features polished textures, delivering a level of realism that's bound to impress fans. While the footage doesn't reveal much, it's a welcome update for those eager for DOOM: The Dark Ages news.
Billy Khan, id Software's Director of Engine Technology, spoke about integrating DLSS 4. According to Khan, this feature ushers in a new era of gaming, transforming ray tracing to enhance performance and elevate visual fidelity. The footage underscores DOOM: The Dark Ages' technical prowess, highlighting its immersive environments and stunning graphics. According to the developers, the title is slated for release on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC later this year.
The video also includes snippets from The Witcher IV trailer—previously shown at The Game Awards—alongside footage from Black State and the already-released Indiana Jones and The Great Circle. NVIDIA's new technology aims to both reduce GPU workloads and improve image processing by integrating AI into its operations. The company also shared a list of 75 games set to support DLSS 4 with the launch of the GeForce RTX 50 Series. Titles like Alan Wake 2 and God of War Ragnarök will have Day 0 support, while upcoming releases like Dune: Awakening will feature DLSS Multi-Frame Generation.
It's always exciting to get updates on DOOM: The Dark Ages. The FPS is set to launch in 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC.
