DOOM: The Dark Ages is coming in May

The DOOM series is a favourite of FPS fans due to its epic brutality and dynamic gameplay. Titles like DOOM Eternal provided an intense experience to the fans of the series while adding novelties to the franchise. However, the upcoming installment in the series will be the first one to offer a significant change to the scenario. DOOM: The Dark Ages was announced several months ago, and it generated quite a bit of excitement among the series' fans. The footage of the game shown in its announcement trailer revealed a medieval setting invaded by demonic forces alongside new and unique weapons, like a shield with a serrated edge that you can throw as a boomerang to decimate your foes. As a prequel to previous installments in the series, DOOM: The Dark Ages offers players the opportunity to discover more about the origin of the DOOM Slayer and his past in a quest to destroy the legions of Hell.

Release date

Bethesda Softworks has confirmed the release date for the upcoming installment in the cult FPS series. The release of DOOM: The Dark Ages is scheduled for May 15, 2025, on Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, and PC. New footage of the game was also presented during yesterday's Developer_Direct 2025, offering a spectacular overview of the gameplay and showcasing new weapons, challenging Demon opponents, and a new look at the dragon mount and gigantic mech that you will be able to use in the game.

DOOM: The Dark Ages will launch on day one on Game Pass and it will feature a single-player campaign only. The game will ditch multiplayer in order to focus on delivering a polished and immersive experience with the campaign. The game will feature several difficulty levels but players will have the option to adjust several gameplay parameters to customize the experience.
