Watch 13 minutes of Sable gameplay

While most of the upcoming announcements about video games will take place from this Saturday during E3 2021, we are starting to get some glimpses of games that were presented before. This is the case of Sable, which we were able to discover during the PC Game Show at E3 2018. The game had been revealed beforehand, but this event gave it some visibility. Sable has been developed by Shedworks, an independent English studio consisting of just two people, Daniel Fineberg and Gregorios Kythreotis.

Sable was originally scheduled for release in 2019, but it was pushed back to this year. We got some news about the game last year at the Future Games Show, with the first look at commented gameplay. Players can discover a bit more about this adventure and exploration game thanks to a new gameplay video that shows the first 13 minutes of the game.

We can enjoy Sable's hand-drawn graphics, which reminisce the style of the French comic artist Jean Giraud, alias Moebius, to whom we owe some famous series such as Blueberry or The Incal. We can see the protagonist progressing through a desert landscape inspired by Star Wars, with a nice overview of the range of his movements, including jumping, sprinting, climbing, etc. The narrative seems to be an important part of the game, with many multiple-choice dialogues. However, this gameplay preview does not show us any combat. Our character will have a motorized vehicle at his disposal to travel through the open world of Sable.

Sable is a far cry from the triple-A games we'll be seeing over the weekend, but it will undoubtedly appeal to those players that enjoy exploration games, as that's exactly what it will offer when it comes out on Xbox consoles and PC later this year.
