Watch ten minutes of Forspoken gameplay

Square Enix couldn't miss an opportunity like this year's Gamescom to promote Forspoken. The huge expectation that followed the game's announcement has somehow cooled down due to constant delays. Also, the last gameplay reveal wasn't very convincing, and it generated a wave of skepticism among the players that are eagerly waiting to immerse themselves in this new adventure. That could very well be the reason why the developer has revealed a lengthy Forspoken gameplay trailer during the video game event.

The video shows ten minutes of Frey Holland traversing lush scenarios and fighting against many types of enemies. It gives us a bit of insight into the ways she can use her sentient bracer to cast a variety of magic spells and unleash all kinds of abilities. The movement of the character and the animations look fluid, and it seems that Frey will have plenty of mobility skills that she can use to explore the surrounding world and also reposition herself to avoid attacks and gain an advantage in combat.

Overall, Forspoken looks like an exciting open-world adventure set in an alternate world full of strange creatures. With plenty of mysteries to discover and a thrilling storyline as background Forspoken could be one of the great launches of 2023 if it does not suffer any more delays.

The fans' response to the new video seems to be quite positive, but Square Enix should be very careful and try to avoid disappointing them with more delays. A good number of games have been delayed to 2023, and some of them could leave Forspoken in the shadows.
