Dragonwilds looks ready to become RuneScape’s next big adventure

RuneScape: Dragonwilds is becoming much bigger before 1.0
Updates & Patches

RuneScape: Dragonwilds is starting to look like much more than just a survival crafting spin-off with a familiar name slapped on the front. With its latest updates, Jagex seems to be pushing the game toward something bigger, bolder, and much more RuneScape-flavored. The bones are still there: chopping trees, mining rocks, building bases, crafting better gear, and trying not to get absolutely bullied by the wilderness. But now, Dragonwilds is beginning to feel like a proper adventure with real danger, meaningful progression, and some very spicy dragon-shaped problems.

The big step forward was the Umbral Sands update, which added a whole new desert region packed with fresh hazards, enemies, materials, and loot to chase. Players got to explore a harsh new biome, deal with survival threats like the blazing Sunscorch and quicksand, and face off against Fuzan, a new dragon boss who sounds like exactly the kind of creature you do not want interrupting your relaxing mining session. Add in Magic Carpet mounts, Steam achievements, new gear tiers, and resources like Adamant, Yew, and Red Dragonhide, and suddenly Dragonwilds has a lot more going on than just “build a house and hope nothing eats you.”

A survival adventure with RuneScape flavor

That is what makes this update path exciting. Dragonwilds feels like it is stepping into the same cozy-but-dangerous zone that made games like Valheim so addictive. You start with basic tools, slowly become less pathetic, then eventually wander into places where the game gently reminds you that confidence is not the same thing as preparation. The difference is that Dragonwilds brings RuneScape’s familiar fantasy flavor, skill progression, and creature design into the survival formula.

Looking ahead, update 0.12.1 and Scorned Wilderness seem focused on sharpening the experience even more. Combat is getting smoother, movement is being improved, and players are being prepared for a proper endgame-style raid challenge before the full 1.0 launch. Scorned Wilderness, with floating islands, wild anima storms, and the terrifying Kuldra, the God-Eater, sounds like the kind of finale that could turn Dragonwilds from a neat experiment into a must-play survival RPG.

So if you have been waiting for Dragonwilds to grow into something meatier, now is a great time to keep an eye on it. And before jumping into Ashenfall, make sure to use our price comparison tool to find the best prices for RuneScape: Dragonwilds.
