Our selection of games worth keeping on the radar

Another week, another batch of games fighting for space on your wishlist. The latest dLcompare Weekly Recap takes a tour through ten releases and upcoming adventures, jumping from a 2012 DVD store hiding an assassin to creature collecting, multiverse extraction shooting, fantasy RPGs, card-shop management, and good old-fashioned turn-based strategy.

Our highlights

The recap kicks things off with BLACKWOOD, a cinematic third-person action game with an unusually specific day job. During daylight hours, players run a DVD store in 2012 New York. Once night falls, however, things get considerably less wholesome. The game combines gunplay with grounded melee combat and brutal takedowns, while its unusual double-life premise gives the action a quirky edge. BLACKWOOD launched on September 16, 2026, bringing its mix of action, exploration and assassin fantasy to players.

Next up is Batomon Showdown, a creature-collecting auto-battler that puts the emphasis on team building rather than traditional twitch combat. Players assemble teams of up to six Batomon, purchase upgrades in the shop and then watch their carefully constructed squads battle automatically. The asynchronous multiplayer system means you're fighting saved boards from other players rather than necessarily facing someone live. A standard run challenges you to reach ten wins before running out of lives. The full 1.0 release arrived on September 15, adding a new region, more creatures, trainers, trinkets, ranked seasons and other features.

One of the biggest names in this week's lineup is ENDLESS Legend 2, the latest strategy game from AMPLITUDE Studios. Set on the ever-changing world of Saiadha, the game asks players to develop their civilization, manage asymmetric factions, wield political influence and build armies while exploring a planet hiding some very dark secrets. Its dynamic world also introduces environmental changes that can alter how players approach exploration and expansion. After spending a year in Early Access, ENDLESS Legend 2 officially launched on September 17, 2026.

Active Matter takes the extraction-shooter formula and throws it into a fractured multiverse. Players venture into quantum-unstable zones where locations have been ripped from different realities. The goal is simple enough: explore, find valuable equipment and Active Matter, survive hostile entities and other players, and make it back alive. The catch is that reality itself isn't behaving properly. Gravity can change, space can twist and strange phenomena can turn an ordinary raid into something considerably more complicated. The game supports PvPvE, PvE and PvP encounters, giving players multiple ways to get into trouble. Active Matter launched on September 15 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The name alone deserves attention, but R.I.P. - Reincarnation Insurance Program has more going on than its wonderfully corporate approach to dying. ThIS top-down roguelite combines hordes of zombies with Diablo-style loot and character progression. Players blast through enormous waves of enemies while collecting weapons, tactical gear and increasingly powerful equipment to create increasingly ridiculous builds. The game's concept is essentially Vampire Survivors meets loot-heavy action RPG progression, except you're doing all that while working for an insurance company that apparently considers repeated death part of the job description. R.I.P. - Reincarnation Insurance Program officially reached version 1.0 on September 15 after its Early Access period.

For something a little more traditional, Dimraeth offers a fantasy RPG adventure that can be played solo or cooperatively with up to eight players. The game features a handcrafted pixel-art world, eight races and six classes, alongside elemental combat, exploration, crafting, relationships and the ability to develop your own stronghold. That gives Dimraeth a rather broad toolbox, combining classic RPG systems with multiplayer survival-adventure ingredients. It launched into Early Access on September 15, 2026.

The Weekly Recap also highlights Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, the remake of Nihon Falcom's beloved JRPG sequel. Instead of simply dusting off the original, the remake modernizes its presentation and gameplay while retaining the extensive storytelling and world-building that define the Trails series. The result is a more contemporary take on a classic adventure, complete with updated visuals, character presentation and combat. The game launched on September 17, 2026, following the successful remake of Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds also makes an appearance, and its September 15 launch represented an important milestone for Jagex's survival-crafting adventure. The game combines open-world exploration, survival mechanics, crafting and multiplayer within the RuneScape universe. Its full launch brought the game out of Steam Early Access and onto PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, accompanied by new content including the Scorned Wilderness update. RuneScape has once again found a way to convince players that spending hours gathering resources is a perfectly reasonable use of their weekend.

What if your dream wasn't to become a legendary adventurer, space marine or chosen hero, but simply to run a really good trading-card shop? That's where TCG Card Shop Simulator comes in. Players manage their own card store, organize shelves, stock products, open booster packs, hunt for rare cards and expand their business. The simulation also lets customers play card games inside the store, meaning you'll have to keep the place organized and profitable while catering to your increasingly demanding clientele. The game arrived on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 15, following its PC release.

Finally, the recap closes with Aniimo, a free-to-play open-world RPG built around creature collecting. Players explore the continent of Idyll, discover and capture Aniimo, unlock new abilities and interact with other players. The game also features a floating metropolis where Pathfinders can meet and participate in competitive activities. Aniimo launched on PC and consoles on September 16, with the mobile version scheduled to arrive on September 23.

Ten games to watch for

The latest dLcompare Weekly Recap is a particularly eclectic snapshot of the current gaming landscape. BLACKWOOD brings cinematic assassination to a DVD store, Batomon Showdown turns creature collecting into asynchronous strategy, ENDLESS Legend 2 delivers another dose of grand-scale 4X warfare, while Active Matter sends extraction-shooter fans into a reality-bending multiverse.
