It's been quite a long while since we heard that Ubisoft wanted to create a new version of one of the most important Prince of Persia games. The original Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was launched in 2003, and it brought to life again the classic platformer adventure game, becoming the first game in a new series. With 3D scenarios, a new style, and modern gameplay features, the title soon became a favorite of the fans.

A long developement

The development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has suffered some ups and downs. Ubisoft Montreal was the studio in charge of creating the game, but the French company decided to assign it to Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai later. In an unexpected move, the remake is now back in the hands of the original studio, as revealed via an official statement published on Twitter.

"This decision is an important step and the team, building upon achieved by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, will now take the time they need to regroup on the scope of the game to deliver you the best experience for this remake of an all-time classic, when it's ready."

Unfortunately, the announcement does not include a release date for the game, but we can imagine that the change of developer will increase the time that it will need to be ready. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake was originally announced in 2020, with an expected release in January 2021. We know that the game will use the same engine as Assassin's Creed Origins to deliver a new experience, but other than that, Ubisoft has been quite reserved about it.

In any case, the fans of the famous prince will still have to wait for a while until they can play the new game.
