Palworld developers are getting a day off to play Monster Hunter Wilds

Pocketpair, the developer of the popular monster-taming survival game Palworld, has long been known for its humor and innovative twists in game design and social media. Recently, as the release date for the highly anticipated Monster Hunter Wilds from Capcom approached, Pocketpair took an unconventional approach to boost morale at Palworld Studio. In a light-hearted internal memo shared on the company’s official X account, staff were informed that this Friday would be a company-wide holiday—except for a few essential departments—so employees could kick back and enjoy the launch of Monster Hunter Wilds.
 

The memo humorously noted that a spate of “mysterious reports” from several team members suggested they might be feeling under the weather on Friday. Rather than raising alarms, the company decided to roll with the joke, giving developers a free pass to either nurse their “illness” or simply celebrate the new release in style.

The timing of the holiday couldn’t be better, as Monster Hunter Wilds is expected to be a major hit. With Monster Hunter: World having sold over 25 million copies and Monster Hunter Rise reaching 15 million sales, Capcom’s upcoming title is set to carry on that legacy. Capcom has even hinted that, despite a recent dip in net profits, the anticipated success of Monster Hunter Wilds could help turn things around for the company this fiscal year.
