FromSoftware Postpones Elden Ring: Nightreign Update Over Tsunami Risk

FromSoftware has announced a delay to the anticipated Patch 1.02 for Elden Ring: Nightreign, citing safety concerns following tsunami alerts across parts of Japan. The update, which includes the long-requested two-player “Duos” mode, was originally planned for release on Wednesday, July 30, but will now arrive on Thursday, July 31, after 10:00 CEST / 1:00 PDT.

The decision follows an 8.8-magnitude earthquake near Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula, which triggered widespread tsunami warnings throughout Japan's eastern regions. Local authorities issued evacuation orders to nearly a million people across more than 130 municipalities. In response, FromSoftware suspended operations, prioritizing the safety of its employees as emergency procedures took effect.

Patch 1.02 brings several key enhancements, with the Duos mode standing out as a major gameplay shift.
