Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor Gears Up for Full Launch

Funday Games has announced that Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, the solo spin-off of the popular co-op mining shooter Deep Rock Galactic, will officially leave Early Access on September 17, 2025. With its full 1.0 release, the game is introducing a game-changing addition: a comprehensive Gear system designed to deepen progression and customization.

Since its Early Access debut, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor has sold over a million copies, capturing players with its mix of auto-shooter chaos and the signature Deep Rock charm. Now, the upcoming Gear update looks to give players more control over how they develop their dwarves for each hazardous mission beneath Hoxxes IV.

Enhancing your gear

The new Gear system adds six equipment categories: Armor, Weapon Mods, Canisters, Gadgets, Tools, and Chips. These items can be earned either as random loot drops during gameplay or guaranteed rewards from boss encounters. Each piece of gear provides your character with unique bonuses, making gear selection an integral part of planning and strategy. Gear also comes in different rarities, from common to legendary, and can feature powerful "quirks", which are special modifiers that change gameplay in meaningful ways. These quirks add variety and make each gear drop feel more rewarding. 

Gear can be enhanced up to three times using resources gathered during missions, allowing for greater scaling into the game's toughest challenges. Additionally, unwanted gear can be dismantled for materials, encouraging experimentation without penalty. According to Anders Leicht Rohde, Funday Games' Chief Creative Officer, the new system is meant to bridge the gap between run-based roguelike chaos and long-term progression.

Alongside this major addition, the 1.0 launch will also include a wealth of content that enhances replayability, including Lethal Operations, mutators, and deep Mastery upgrades for classes and weapons. These systems all reinforce the game's identity as a blend of action, strategy, and rogue-lite intensity.
