Developer Colossal Order is not having the best of experiences with Cities: Skylines II. The game was released a few months ago and the studio has been working hard to improve it since then. Quite a few fans of the series who dived into Cities: Skylines II at launch weren't happy with its performance on PC and demanded changes. In a fast response, the post-launch calendar was altered to make room for a series of patches that would improve the overall gameplay experience. The addition of mod support somewhat contributed to enhancing player experience but the developer studio doesn't seem to be out of trouble yet. Every little step towards getting where the game should have been already seems to be slow and difficult.
Cities: Skylines II should have hit consoles last year, but the state of the game and the required fixes forced a delay. Now, Colossal Order has confirmed in a statement via Steam that there won't be a release on consoles before the summer, so the fans could be looking at a release that would take place in mid-summer or even next fall. The introduction of the eagerly anticipated Asset Edition is proving to be more troublesome than expected and this is hindering progress in other areas.
Cities: Skylines II will face its first anniversary next week with a lot of work to be done, but if Colossal Order manages to finish what was promised the experience will manage to fully bloom on all platforms sometime this year. Until we hear from an official release date on consoles, the fans will have to stick to PC if they want to immerse into the sandbox city-building experience the game offers. Of course, if you prefer to wait for the release on consoles you can rest assured that you will find Cities: Skylines II at the best price with our comparator as soon as they are available.
