Resident Evil Requiem gets PS5 Pro performance enhancements
Resident Evil Requiem is shaping up to be one of Capcom’s most technically ambitious entries yet, and new details from the Japanese PlayStation Blog highlight just how far the series is pushing Sony’s upgraded hardware. When the game arrives on February 27, 2026, PlayStation 5 Pro owners can expect significantly enhanced visuals—and impressively high frame rates—even with ray tracing enabled.
According to game director Akishi Nakanishi, Resident Evil Requiem will run at native 4K resolution and 60 FPS on PS5 Pro with ray tracing turned on, marking a substantial leap over previous-generation performance targets. Nakanishi emphasized that the team invested “a significant amount of time into optimization,” ensuring the horror sequel remains smooth even under the added rendering load of full ray-traced lighting.
Players using high-refresh-rate displays will have even more options. With ray tracing switched off, Resident Evil Requiem can reportedly reach up to 120 FPS, with performance averaging around 90 FPS during gameplay. These expanded settings appear to be exclusive to the PS5 Pro version, giving owners of Sony’s upgraded console a clear technical advantage.
Dual Protagonists, Dual Styles
Beyond the performance enhancements, Resident Evil Requiem is also expanding the series narratively. The game features two protagonists—FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and veteran agent Leon S. Kennedy—each offering distinct gameplay approaches. Leon’s sections lean heavily into action, while Grace’s perspective delivers more traditional survival-horror tension.
Capcom has also confirmed that players will be able to swap freely between first-person and third-person views across the entire campaign, providing flexibility for returning fans and newcomers alike.
Resident Evil Requiem launches February 27, 2026 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Make sure to use our game price comparator to secure the best deal on Resident Evil Requiem across platforms.
