Play the superhero you were meant to be in this turn-based strategy game. Capes is set in a reality where the supervillains won. Now the city is a dystopian mess where every hero is an outlaw. You need to recruit as many heroes as you can to take back your city and defeat the supervillains once and for all.

After a 20-year absence, the veteran superhero Doctrine is back. He’s putting together a new generation of superheroes to take down the villains who have outlawed powers and heroics.

Engage the enemy in turn-based combat that will test your tactical skill. Even superpowers aren’t enough to attain victory--you need to have the right strategy. Familiarize yourself with your team’s abilities, have them cooperate on the battlefield, and use correct positioning to win the day.

As your heroes level up, decide how their powers evolve alongside their teammates. You can also explore various sidequests to make your characters stronger. Ultimately, you must face the supervillains, defeat them, and take back the city you love. Fight the good fight in Capes!

    FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the same hero in multiple missions simultaneously, and if so, what are the implications?
No, each hero can only be assigned to one mission at a time. This forces strategic choices about team composition and mission priority.
How does the 'Perk' system interact with the limited actions available during a turn, and can perks override action limits?
Perks modify action efficiency, granting additional effects or abilities. They do not directly increase the number of actions. Strategic use of perks can create powerful combos.
If a hero is defeated during a mission, are they permanently unavailable, or are there recovery mechanics?
Heroes are not permanently lost. They are unavailable for a set duration, forcing the player to adapt their team composition and mission selection.
How does the game's difficulty dynamically adjust based on player performance, and what factors influence this?
The game does not dynamically adjust in real time. Difficulty is a setting you choose at the beginning of the campaign. The choice affects enemy stats and the types of missions available.
Can I respec a hero's abilities or perk choices, and if so, how does that work?
Yes, respeccing is available. This usually comes with a resource cost, allowing you to reconfigure a hero's build based on the current mission or preferred playstyle.
How does the 'Threat Level' mechanic impact mission outcomes, and how can I mitigate increasing threat?
Threat Level increases enemy strength and the frequency of challenging events. Threat is managed through successful missions and completing specific objectives. Failing missions increases the threat level.
Are there environmental interactions during combat, and can these be exploited strategically?
Yes, some maps include interactive elements. These can be used to control the battlefield, such as cover and hazards, or to create advantageous situations for your heroes.
How does the game handle different types of damage, and are certain heroes or abilities more effective against specific enemy types?
Different damage types and resistances are present. Hero and enemy abilities are designed to exploit these differences, encouraging team building and tactical choices.
Is there a resource management aspect beyond the heroes' availability, and if so, what strategic decisions does it drive?
Yes, there are multiple resources used for upgrades, healing, and tactical advantages. Players must balance the investment of these resources across multiple fronts to succeed.
Does the game offer any form of procedural generation, or are missions and enemy encounters pre-scripted?
Missions are not procedurally generated, but the order of events and enemy placement can vary. This provides replayability while maintaining a curated experience.
