Stellaris: Federations is the fourth expansion for the sci-fi strategy game Stellaris. This expansion focuses on expanding the diplomatic options and, to that end, Federations will introduce Trade Leagues, Martial Alliances, and Hegemony for those looking to "build up the internal cohesion of their Federations".

There is a new galactic senate, with the power to take a wide variety of resolutions. You will be able to sanction those that refuse to follow the senate's guidelines, push for a common goal or even convince the senate to position yourself as a leader, trading favors and maneuvering, doing whatever it takes to gain influence among schemers.

Stellaris: Federations also brings the Origins system, enabling you to select traits and starting condition for your empire and a range of new constructions.

This game is a DLC and needs to be used with the complete version of the game : Stellaris

    FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

If I am the President of a Federation and the Federation's laws are up for vote, can I use the 'Emergency Powers' diplomatic action to automatically pass my desired law?
Yes, provided your Federation type allows for it and you have the necessary influence to use Emergency Powers. Doing so will circumvent the usual voting process.
How does the 'Federation Fleet' mechanic work, and how is its power determined?
The Federation Fleet is a combined fleet contributed by all members. Its fleet power is determined by the combined naval capacity and naval power of the federation members who have chosen to contribute to the fleet.
Can I leave a Federation at any time, and what are the consequences of doing so?
Yes, but the ability to leave depends on the Federation type and any active agreements. Leaving can result in a cooldown before you can rejoin or form a new Federation and potentially worsen diplomatic relations with former allies.
How do I become the Custodian in the Galactic Community and what unique actions does it unlock?
Becoming Custodian usually requires achieving a high standing within the Galactic Community and having the most powerful fleet. As Custodian, you gain unique actions, such as the ability to propose Galactic Community resolutions that can significantly impact the galaxy.
What are 'Federation Traditions', and how do they affect gameplay?
Federation Traditions are a set of traditions that provide unique bonuses to the Federation. They are unlocked by gaining experience, and each tradition gives bonuses related to diplomacy, naval capacity, influence generation, or other aspects of Federation gameplay.
How does the 'Federation Cohesion' value affect Federation stability?
Federation Cohesion represents the unity of the Federation. Low cohesion leads to increased member disloyalty, making them more likely to leave the Federation or vote against your proposals. High cohesion strengthens the federation, leading to better relations and stability.
What is the purpose of 'Federation Authority', and how does it impact member empires?
Federation Authority determines the power distribution within the Federation. It influences who can propose and vote on laws, the authority of the Federation fleet, and the amount of control the Federation President has over member empires.
How does the 'Galactic Senate' mechanic impact Federation gameplay, especially for the Custodian?
The Galactic Senate passes resolutions which can influence the gameplay for federations. The Custodian is able to use more influence to support their proposals in the Senate, and can propose resolutions related to galactic defense or declaring crises.
Can I customize the ship designs used by the Federation Fleet?
No, the ship designs used by the Federation Fleet are typically based on the ship designs of the Federation's President, unless another member has a more advanced design selected.
How do I change my Federation type after the initial formation?
Changing your Federation type typically requires a specific Federation law or a vote within the Federation, depending on the starting type and existing laws. Some types may be immutable, and cannot be changed.
