Crimson Desert Gameplay Trailer Reveals an Immersive Open World

Explore the immersive open world of Crimson Desert

Pearl Abyss has released a new extended gameplay video for Crimson Desert, which offers and in-depth look at the studio's ambitious open-world action RPG. The footage focuses on the game's defining features, placing particular emphasis on the scale, variety, and interactivity of its world, as well as the systems that drive exploration and combat.

Discover Pywel

Set in the continent of Pywel, Crimson Desert presents a seamless open world designed to feel alive and reactive. The video highlights vast landscapes that range from fertile plains and dense forests to deserts, mountain ranges, and heavily fortified settlements. Cities appear densely populated, with visible daily activity, while the wilderness is filled with roaming enemies, hidden locations, and environmental challenges that encourage freeform exploration.

The different ways you traverse the world of Crimson Desert play an important role on how you interact with it. Kliff, the game’s main protagonist, can travel on horseback, climb cliffs and structures, glide across long distances, and use specialized tools to reach otherwise inaccessible areas. The footage shows these and also more unusual traversal options that will be available later in the game, including fantastical mounts and large-scale machinery, which reinforce the sense of scale and verticality throughout Pywel.

Combat is presented as fast-paced and highly dynamic, blending melee attacks, ranged weapons, and special abilities. The gameplay video shows battles ranging from small-scale skirmishes to massive clashes involving multiple factions. Enemy encounters vary widely, and include human soldiers, powerful creatures, and mechanical threats, requiring players to adapt their tactics depending on the situation and terrain.

While Kliff serves as the narrative anchor throughout the game, the video confirms that players will gain access to additional playable characters during the story. Each character features distinct abilities and combat styles, offering different approaches to both combat and exploration. This character variety is designed to complement the game's narrative structure, which centers on political conflict, fractured alliances, and an encroaching supernatural force.

Crimson Desert places strong emphasis on optional content. Side quests, faction-based missions, environmental puzzles, and hidden rewards are spread across the map, encouraging players to stray from the main path. The open world supports discovery and experimentation, which are as important as scripted objectives.

With development now complete and the game approaching release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, Pearl Abyss is much closer to achieve its goal of delivering a large-scale, feature-dense open-world experience. We will probably have access to more videos showcasing other features and details about the game ahead of release.
