WARDOGS Season 2: New Weapons, Vehicles, and Faction Changes
WARDOGS is gearing up to shake up the battlefield with the arrival of Season 2, which will introducenew weapons, military vehicles, rainy weather, and major faction balancing changes. Developer BULKHEAD has confirmed that the new season will kick off on October 15, with an update that is bringing more tactical options and economic incentives designed to making the FPS even more appealing. WARDOGS was significantly improved before entering Early Access, and now it will receive another push with the arrival of Steason 2. From Lonestar bonuses to an experimental betting system, the new season aims to give players more reasons to return after the game's explosive debut.
According to WARDOGS' numbers on SteamDB, WARDOGS reached 428,666 concurrent players on Steam just three days after launching on September 10, 2026, and surpassed three million copies sold by September 26. Now, BULKHEAD is trying to turn that initial success into lasting momentum by refining the game's combat, progression, and faction balance.
So, what's in Season 2?
A variety of new weapons will be available in the game when Season 2 begins, including the TCX Spear assault rifle, M14 designated marksman rifle, PP-19 Bizon submachine gun, and Evo-3 Ultra light machine gun, alongside additional weapon attachments. The update also adds a Molotov throwable that spreads fire on impact, damaging enemies within its radius. Players can throw it overarm or underarm, giving them another option for area denial.
The Molotov could help flush defenders out of cover or disrupt pushes through chokepoints. The new weapons broaden loadout choices, although their competitive value will depend on their final statistics, availability, and cost.
The vehicle roster will be expanded with the Wolf-110 lightweight transport, its Wolf-110 Assault variant armed with an M2 Browning machine gun, the T-72 main battle tank, and the Flakpanzer Gepard anti-air vehicle. The T-72 is slower than the Leopard but cheaper and more fuel-efficient. The update also adds an MG Nest with a manned M2 Browning emplacement, a Large Shelter, and a Wooden Step.
Season 2 will also add a rainy weather preset that affects visibility, engagement ranges, and sound. Rain also interacts with damaged and destroyed structures, while synchronized thunder can temporarily mask footsteps. These environmental effects could make repositioning less predictable and alter the effectiveness of long-range engagements. Their actual impact will depend on how the weather interacts with individual maps and combat situations.
BULKHEAD has acknowledged that Lonestar has suffered from a lower win rate than the other factions. Visible uniforms, spawn positions, and negative player perceptions have been appointed as contributing factors for such a situation. The studio aims to improve that in Season 2 with significant changes. All faction spawn locations on Bakurani will be moved, and Lonestar's uniforms will be more desaturated to reduce their visibility. The blue faction will also receive additional cash and XP during the season. Separately, any faction that falls at least 40 points behind the team in second place will receive a 20% vendor discount.
New rules discourage team switching
Season 2 introduces restrictions intended to prevent players from switching factions to gain an advantage after a match has developed. Once a team leads by more than 10 points, players joining a team cannot switch again for 15 minutes. Players who switch teams or join an ongoing match will also have their maps obscured until they reach the control zone for the first time. Vehicle spawning remains unavailable until they reach that area. These restrictions aim to limit the advantages of joining a stronger side mid-match.
A Wager Vendor adds risk to progression
An experimental Wager Vendor will allow players to bet on themselves by selecting objectives, setting a stake, and deciding how many deaths they are willing to risk while completing the challenge. BULKHEAD has warned that the feature could be removed if players exploit it too easily.
Season 2 will also introduce the game's first progression wipe, returning players to level one. The developer has additionally announced improvements to squad coordination, vehicle handling, controller responsiveness, teamwork and logistics rewards, performance, and server stability.
Can Season 2 sustain WARDOGS' momentum?
Even though WARDOGS is still in Early Access, the game has caught the eye of a sizeable player base thanks to its large-scale battles and economy-driven combat. Maintaining that interest is not an easy task, and Season 2 tackles the challenge through new equipment, environmental changes, faction incentives, and restrictions on team switching. The full patch notes, which are expected to arrive ahead of launch, should clarify the extent of any additional balance adjustments.
