This week's game launches on PC, PS5, Xbox: September 2026 (Week 37)

After last week's busy launch lineup, the second week of the month is bringing another collection of new games, ranging from creepy horror adventures and chaotic racing to JRPG classics, tactical multiplayer battles, and enough bus-driving simulation to make every commute feel slightly more exciting.

There are ten notable releases to keep an eye on between September 7 and September 13, with Thursday looking particularly dangerous for anyone attempting to avoid spending the weekend glued to the screen

September 7 - 13 releases

The releases this week begin on September 8 with Honeycomb: The World Beyond, a survival adventure that sends players into an unfamiliar world where gathering resources, crafting equipment, exploring the environment, and building a home are all part of the job description. Rather than simply throwing players into the wilderness and asking them to survive on berries and optimism, Honeycomb combines exploration with base building and resource management. If you've ever looked at a beautiful alien landscape and thought, "I could absolutely build a house there," this might be your moment.

On the same day, you can go from surviving an alien world to surviving rush-hour traffic in Bus Simulator 27. The latest entry in the simulation series puts players behind the wheel and challenges them to operate their own bus services while dealing with routes, passengers, traffic, and the surprisingly complicated art of getting people from A to B. It may not have dragons, explosions, or mysterious ancient civilizations, but there is something uniquely relaxing about spending several hours becoming the world's most responsible virtual bus driver.

September is still several weeks away from Halloween, but apparently somebody forgot to tell Michael Myers. Halloween: The Game also arrives on September 8, bringing the iconic horror franchise into the world of asymmetric multiplayer. Players can either take control of Michael Myers or attempt to survive as one of the unfortunate souls who happen to be in Haddonfield at precisely the wrong time. Expect stealth, tense escapes, classic horror atmosphere, and the familiar realization that hiding in the same cupboard you've been using for the last ten minutes probably isn't going to work.

September 9 brings Barbarian Saga: The Beastmaster, an action-focused adventure that looks toward classic 2D gaming for inspiration. Combining combat, exploration, platforming, and progression, the game offers something rather different from this week's more simulation-heavy releases. If your ideal Wednesday involves swinging a weapon at monsters rather than carefully following a bus timetable, The Beastmaster has you covered.

Thursday is when the release calendar starts getting crowded, and The Alighieri Circle: Dante's Bloodline is ready to make things considerably more unsettling. Inspired by Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, this psychological horror adventure mixes exploration, puzzles, mystery, and supernatural elements. Players are drawn into a dark story involving the Alighieri family, with the game shifting between different realities as its mysteries begin to unravel. It's the sort of game that makes reading classic literature feel like a potentially dangerous hobby.

If Dante's underworld sounds a little too gloomy, HOT WHEELS Infinite Rush offers a considerably more colorful alternative. The new racing game takes the Hot Wheels concept beyond miniature tracks and into a larger open-world environment. Players can collect vehicles, race across the world, and generally behave like someone has given a collection of toy cars access to a very large amount of horsepower. The game is one of the week's most obvious choices for players looking for something fast, flashy, and significantly less interested in philosophical torment.

JRPG fans also have a major double feature waiting for them on September 10, with The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero / Trails to Azure arriving together to Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 platforms. The two games form the Crossbell arc of Nihon Falcom's sprawling Trails universe. Trails from Zero introduces Lloyd Bannings and the Special Support Section, while Trails to Azure continues the story with even larger political conflicts and increasingly complicated character relationships. If you've somehow managed to keep up with the Trails timeline without a wall covered in red string, congratulations. Everyone else can simply enjoy two highly regarded JRPG adventures arriving together.

Screenbound is perhaps the week's strangest game, and that is meant as a compliment. This platforming adventure plays with two different perspectives simultaneously. Players navigate a 3D world while also interacting with a 2D game displayed on an in-game handheld device, with actions in one world affecting what happens in the other. The result is a puzzle-platformer that essentially asks players to think in multiple dimensions at once. Your brain may request a refund before your Steam account does.

Also arriving September 10 is WARDOGS, a tactical first-person shooter designed around large-scale multiplayer combat. The game puts three teams into battles involving up to 100 players, with objectives, resources, destruction, and teamwork all playing important roles. Rather than relying entirely on the lone-wolf approach, WARDOGS encourages players to coordinate and adapt as the battlefield changes. In other words, expect communication, chaos, and at least one teammate who absolutely refuses to follow the plan.

Closing out the week is EA SPORTS NHL 27, which launches September 11 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. EA is putting a major emphasis on presentation this year, with all 32 NHL arenas receiving team-specific atmosphere and presentation elements. New introductions, authentic goal songs, an updated broadcast package, and a redesigned crowd system are intended to make matches feel closer to the real thing. Of course, once the puck drops, all that fancy presentation becomes secondary to the person on the other side of the screen attempting to turn your defense into a collection of traffic cones.

Another Busy Week for Video Games

September 7 through September 13 is particularly packed, with September 10 standing out as the day with more releases. Five of the listed games arrive on the same day, meaning players may have to make some difficult decisions about which adventure gets priority. Or, as is tradition for some, you could simply buy everything, play each game for 20 minutes, and return to the game you've already spent 200 hours playing.
