Street Fighter 6 announces character roster and beta test

Fighting game fans have got much to cheer about now that Capcom has announced the date for their closed beta test. During the Tokyo Game Show Livestream, it was announced that the test will run from Oct. 7 - Oct. 10, 2022, on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. The lucky participants will also be able to cross-play across all these platforms. You can sign up at the Street Fighter 6 website from now till Sep. 30 if you’re keen on joining up. Check out the announcement trailer for the beta test here:

Taking it to the Streets

Available to try are the ranked, battle hub, extreme battle, training, casual, and open tournament modes. For the beta test, only 8 characters will be available for play, namely: Luke, Jamie, Ryu, Chun-Li, Guile, Kimberly, Juri, and Ken. Newcomer Jamie is said to be a self-appointed peacekeeper for Chinatown while Kimberly is a student of Bushinryu under Grandmaster Guy.

That said, the full Street Fighter 6 game will feature a large cast of both familiar characters and new ones to try, as Capcom also just released the full 18-member character roster for the game.

Fan favorites Ryu, Ken, Chun Li, Blanka, Dhalsim, E. Honda, Guile, Zangief, Cammy, and Dee Jay have of course been confirmed to return, as well as relative newcomers Luke and Jin. But now we also have Kimberly, Jamie, Manon, Marisa, Lily, and JP to round off the cast. You can check out the character introductions, albeit brief ones, in the movie here:

There will be more to get into once the cross-platform beta test gets underway. If all goes well, we’ll also get an announcement on the launch date after the test is done. Till then, you can pre-order a Street Fighter 6 PS5 key here on our comparator.
