PS5 Enhancements Spotlighted in Ghost of Yōtei Trailer
Sony is fully immersed in the promotion of Ghost of Yōtei ahead of its upcoming launch and it has released a new showcase trailer for Ghost of Yōtei, revealing how the upcoming samurai adventure will take full advantage of PlayStation 5 technology. Scheduled to launch on October 2, 2025, the game is being positioned as one of the most exciting titles in the console's lineup this year.
Only on PlayStation 5
Trailer highlights the way the DualSense controller enhances the gameplay experience. Adaptive triggers simulate the resistance of weapons, such as the tension of pulling back a bowstring or the weight of steel during combat. Haptic feedback adds another layer of realism, with subtle vibrations reflecting strikes, parries, and even environmental effects, making combat encounters feel more immediate and tactile.
Loading times are also dramatically reduced thanks to the PS5's ultra-fast SSD. The trailer emphasizes seamless transitions between locations, allowing players to explore Yōtei’s world without immersion-breaking pauses. Combined with 4K resolution visuals, the game offers highly detailed environments, from snowy mountain ridges to flower-covered meadows. These settings are further enriched by 3D audio technology, giving players a sense of direction and presence as they listen to the clash of steel, rustling winds, or distant enemy footsteps.
The trailer also showcases several presentation modes that shape the way the story is experienced. Returning from Ghost of Tsushima is the Kurosawa Mode, a cinematic black-and-white filter inspired by classic samurai films. Two new options expand on this idea: Takashi Miike Mode intensifies the brutality of combat with close-ups and more visceral effects, while Shinichirō Watanabe Mode offers a more reflective experience, pairing exploration with relaxed lo-fi musical arrangements.
Gameplay refinements are another major focus. Players can fluidly switch between a variety of weapons, including dual katanas, the ōdachi, and the kusarigama. Combat features disarming mechanics that work both ways, resulting in an added challenge that forces players to adapt on the fly. These mechanics, paired with the controller's unique feedback, promise to keep battles unpredictable and rewarding.
Altogether, Ghost of Yōtei makes full use of the PS5’s hardware. Between its cinematic presentation, tactile combat, and technical enhancements, the game aims to deliver a deeply atmospheric samurai epic that builds on the foundation laid by Ghost of Tsushima.
