Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake reportedly targeting January 2026 release

After years of uncertainty and repeated delays, the long-awaited Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake finally appears to have a firm release window. According to a new report from Insider Gaming, Ubisoft is now aiming to launch the remake in mid-January 2026 — marking the first concrete timing update the project has received in years.

This follows Ubisoft’s earlier fiscal-year guidance hinting that the game would release before March 2026, but insiders now claim that the window has been narrowed significantly. The title is also reportedly still set to launch before Ubisoft’s heavily rumored Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake, which is expected to be revealed within the next few months.

Expected Reveal at The Game Awards 2025

Sources speaking to Insider Gaming suggest that the next official look at Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake — and possibly its full release date — is likely to occur at The Game Awards on December 11, 2025. If true, this would be the game's first substantial showing since its original reveal trailer five years ago.

Since that initial 2020 announcement, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake’s development has been turbulent. Initially planned for January 2021, the game faced multiple delays before Ubisoft shifted production entirely to Ubisoft Montreal in 2022, where development was restarted from scratch with new visuals, animations, and mechanics. In 2024, Ubisoft Toronto joined the project to support the remake’s expanded scope.

While the January 2026 launch target remains unofficial, the timing aligns with Ubisoft’s recent efforts to revitalize the Prince of Persia brand — including Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and The Rogue Prince of Persia.
