Pragmata Team Shows Interest in Developing a Sequel
A sequel to Capcom's surprise sci-fi hit Pragmata may not be officially in development yet, but recent comments from the game's creators have fueled growing speculation that the franchise could continue in the future.
Capcom has the last say
In a recent interview, Pragmata director Yonghee Cho revealed that he would “love to see a sequel,” while also making it clear that any decision regarding the future of the franchise ultimately rests with Capcom's leadership. Producer Naoto Oyama echoed a more cautious stance, explaining that the team is currently focused on bringing the original game to as many players as possible.
Cho's remarks quickly attracted attention within the gaming community, especially given Pragmata’s remarkable commercial and critical success since launch. According to recent sales figures, the game surpassed two million copies sold within just 16 days of release, making it one of Capcom's strongest-performing new intellectual properties in recent years.
While Capcom has not officially announced a sequel, the company has already hinted that Pragmata could become a long-term franchise. Earlier this month, Capcom USA COO Rob Dyer suggested that the publisher sees significant future potential in the IP, particularly after the game exceeded internal expectations following a lengthy and difficult development cycle.
Originally announced in 2020 and delayed multiple times before finally launching in April 2026, Pragmata earned praise for its unusual blend of third-person action, puzzle-solving mechanics, and emotionally driven storytelling. Critics and players alike highlighted the relationship between protagonists Hugh and Diana as one of the game’s strongest elements.
Despite the enthusiasm surrounding the possibility of a sequel, Capcom's public relations team reportedly moved quickly during the interview to clarify that Cho's comments reflected his personal hopes rather than an official confirmation. “Please don’t take that line out of context,” Oyama reportedly joked during the discussion.
Even so, the combination of strong sales, positive reviews, and growing fan demand has made the idea of Pragmata 2 increasingly difficult to ignore. For now, however, Capcom appears content to let the original game continue building momentum before making any formal announcements about the franchise's future. As usual, we highly recommend you to use our comparator to purchase Pragmata at the cheapest price if you are interested in discovering this unique sci-fi adventure.
