Larian is returning to its origins after Baldur's Gate III
With all the eyes focused on the upcoming release of Baldur's Gate III, you would think that Larian Studios does not have time to think about future projects. When asked about the future, studio director Swen Vincke has revealed that there is a spot in his heart for the Divinity: Original Sin series, and he would love to work on a new installment.
“It's our own universe we built, so we're definitely gonna get back there at some point. We will get back there at some point. We'll first finish this one now, and then take a break, because we will need to refresh ourselves creatively also. You’re seeing 400 developers putting their hearts and souls into this. You’re getting the best of them and their craft into this game. And so I can tell you, it's quite a thing.”
Of course, the studio is fully committed to the release of Baldur's Gate III, and the fans of Divinity: Original Sin will find many of its mechanics and the unmistakable style of Larian in many of its mechanics. The interaction between the different elements that players could use to create new elements in Divinity: Original Sin II may not be carbon copied into the upcoming RPG, but Larian has definitely improved the level of interaction with the environment that players can perform in Baldur's Gate III to unprecedented levels. The studio is revolutionizing the world of RPGs with Baldur's Gate III, and its release will completely change the genre by setting new standards. The game is already a best-seller and it's only available to play in Early Access as a version with limited content right now.
First things first
It's not surprising to know that Larian wants to return to the series that made it well-known among the RPG creators. With all of the surprises in Baldur's Gate III to be discovered, we can't stop wondering about the kind of features that a possible Divinity: Original Sin III would include in the future.
