Indiana Jones got verified on Steam Deck
As of May 2025, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is officially Steam Deck Verified, meaning it can be played on the device. However, the gaming experience may not be optimal due to hardware limitations and performance issues.
The game initially faced challenges on the Steam Deck, with crashes caused because it exceeded the device's RAM limits. A recent update addressed this by introducing a dedicated "Steam Deck" setting for the Texture Pool Size, preventing such crashes. Despite this improvement, performance issues persist. Players have reported frame rate drops to 24–28 FPS in certain areas and significant loading times, with initial booting taking 4–5 minutes and in-game loading pauses lasting 20–30 seconds.
Therefore, to achieve a more stable experience, we would like to suggest setting Indiana Jones and the Great Circle's frame rate limit to 30 FPS, using the lowest possible graphics settings to maintain playability, and applying NIS scaling with a sharpness level of 5 to enhance text clarity at lower resolutions. These adjustments can help maintain a consistent frame rate, though some fluctuations may still occur.
While the game supports the Steam Deck's 16:10 resolution and offers solid controller support, some visual glitches have been noted. For instance, character eyes may exhibit glowing artifacts, and photos taken in-game might appear black. These issues are more noticeable in darker scenes but are generally considered minor hindrances rather than game-breaking problems. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle delivers a compelling adventure with a rich narrative, diverse puzzles, and immersive environments.
To fully appreciate the game's visual fidelity and performance, it's recommended to play the game on a more powerful system, such as a gaming PC or console. The Steam Deck version is playable but may require patience due to the aforementioned performance limitations.
