Survive the terror: Dying Light’s Beast is coming soon
Techland has announced a delay for Dying Light: The Beast, pushing its release from August 22, 2025, to September 19, 2025. This decision, shared via the game's official website, aims to ensure the highest quality for fans. The extra time will be used to polish key elements like UI, physics, cutscenes, and player animations, with Techland emphasizing their commitment to making this the most refined Dying Light experience yet. Preview events in Warsaw, Shanghai, and Los Angeles have already generated buzz, with journalists calling it a ''nailbiting'' standout for 2025, and a public demo is set for Gamescom 2025.
Dying Light: The Beast is a standalone action-adventure survival horror game set in the zombie-infested Castor Woods, a rural, forested valley with a haunting atmosphere inspired by Twin Peaks. The story centers on Kyle Crane, the protagonist from the original Dying Light, who returns after 13 years. Having escaped captivity and brutal experimentation by a villain known as The Baron, Crane is now a half-human, half-zombie hybrid. His DNA-altered state fuels a revenge-driven narrative, blending intense survival horror with the series' signature open-world exploration. The game reintroduces the day-night cycle, where zombies grow more aggressive at night, amplifying tension. New gameplay features include “Beast Mode,” enabling Crane to unleash superhuman strength, tearing enemies apart in brutal combat. Players can wield firearms, bows, and shivs, use zombie guts for stealth, and drive 4x4 vehicles to navigate the dense, dynamic world, complete with shifting weather and enhanced visuals.
We have made the decision to push back the release of Dying Light: The Beast to September 19. This additional time will allow us to work on crucial feedback we received during playtests, and preview events.

How did the game evolve?
Originally a planned DLC for Dying Light 2: Stay Human, The Beast evolved into a standalone title after a 2023 leak prompted Techland to expand its scope. The game aims to recapture the original's horror roots, addressing feedback that Dying Light 2 leaned too heavily into action. Speaking of Dying Light 2: Stay Human, this 2022 sequel introduced a new protagonist and a choice-driven narrative in a sprawling city, but some fans felt it lacked the first game's eerie intensity. The Beast promises to deliver that missing dread, with post-launch support planned, including free updates and DLC. Find the best prices for Dying Light: The Beast using our price comparison tool.
