Bandai Namco Studios has officially announced Code Vein II: Mask of Idris, a major narrative expansion launching on September 9, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The expansion invites players into The Forsaken World, a fractured realm forged from collapsed timelines and residual histories left in the wake of the legendary hero Idris. At its core lies the Spindle of Pathos, a force drawing in emotional energy across space and time that now threatens to bleed into the real world.

New Allies Join the Fray: Meet Liv Voda and Lou MagMell

The expansion introduces two key companion partners: Liv Voda, a former Temporal Rift Guardian and Valentin Voda's half-sister. She relies on an aggressive, halberd-focused combat style powered by her Chariot Rave Formae. Lou MagMell: An alternate-timeline variant of Lou who entered the Forsaken World following a tragic event, serving as a mysterious ally.

Martial Arts Formae and Pathos Flames Enhance Post-Game Combat

To face the new bosses within this realm, players gain access to dynamic Formae capabilities. These include Grave Knocker, a universal martial arts Formae delivering AoE stagger shockwaves, and Sword of Karma, which summons a greatsword burning with Pathos flames for extended melee strike chains.

Accessing the post-game campaign requires players to reach the base game's "Luna Fraterna" ending and complete the "Valentin's Request" sub-mission. Launching alongside the expansion, Free Update 2.0.0 will give all players enhanced features, including new post-game world exploration systems and recruited companions. Mask of Idris is a great expansion for Code Vein II fans, but its restricted access and story, detached from the main narrative, could limit its emotional impact. The new mechanics are promising, but their true balance will depend on the difficulty of the bosses and the length of the content.

Grave Knocker and Sword of Karma seem like practical additions. One gives area stagger, the other stretches melee chains without overcomplicating things. The free update 2.0 arriving on the same day is a good move for everyone who already owns the game.

heads up for any1 who buys the dlc. you need to have the game finished in order to start the DLC. if u have finished the game and u started a NG+ u need to finish it again. And to be more specific, u need to get the 2nd (Luna Fraterna) ending and complete the "Valentin's Request" sidequest. Neither of them are missable
