BioWare has no plans to release a DLC for Dragon Age: The Veilguard

This may not come as a surprise given the level of controversy generated by the game after its release, but BioWare has confirmed that releasing a DLC for its latest RPG adventure Dragon Age: The Veilguard is not in its plans for the future. The game was deeply impacted by a severe controversy about BioWare neglecting review copies to certain content creators that didn't see with good eyes the new installment in the Dragon Age series. After that, the game was released and the comments about it not meeting expectations were abundant. However, the game's reviews are mostly positive on Steam, demonstrating that even if it has fallen short of some people's expectations, it still holds some value for many.

Mass Effect is next

Whether you think that Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a game for you or not, you can rest assured that BioWare will not expand the game in any way, at least anytime soon. In a recent interview, creative director John Epler confirmed that the studio has no plans to release any downloadable expansions. All of its efforts seem to be focused on creating a new installment for the Mass Effect series. Mass Effect Andromeda is BioWare's biggest failure alongside Anthem. Still, the studio is clinging to the popularity of the franchise and will try to refresh it with a new chapter that the fans can deem as worthy enough. To leave Dragon Age: The Veilguard orphan of post-launch content may be a side effect of its results but the question is if BioWare can afford the time and effort to resurrect a franchise that it almost killed in the past.

Maybe, a better option could be to try to improve Dragon Age: The Veilguard and change the game to appeal to those who seem to be so upset with it. We have an example that is similar in a certain way. CDPR managed to turn Cyberpunk 2077 into a success after a year of hard work and an outstanding expansion, although the game's problems were mostly technical at release. It seems too early to deny Dragon Age: The Veilguard such an opportunity. In any case, we will have to wait a bit longer to see what the studio does for real.
