EA prepares stricter PC security rules for Battlefield 6
Battlefield 6 is adding another shield to its anti-cheat loadout, and this one goes deeper than simply swinging the ban hammer. EA has started showing TPM 2.0 compliance warnings to PC players whose systems do not meet the game’s security requirements. The warning can currently be dismissed, but EA plans to make TPM 2.0 compliance mandatory in a future update.
What TPM 2.0 means for Battlefield 6 players
So, what is TPM? Trusted Platform Module 2.0 is a hardware-backed security feature found in modern PCs. It helps verify that a computer started in a trusted state and securely stores important security information. For Battlefield 6, that gives EA Javelin Anticheat another way to identify systems manipulated to hide cheats, spoof hardware information or interfere with security checks. Basically, it is another locked door between cheaters and their precious wallhacks.
EA says the warning should affect around 1% of active Battlefield 6 players. Some legitimate users may only need to enable TPM in their BIOS or install a motherboard firmware update. However, EA says cheat developers have also used TPM emulation and spoofing to appear compliant, which is why the company is preparing to remove earlier compatibility exceptions. During May alone, Javelin reportedly stopped 218,695 cheating or tampering attempts before they could affect matches.
Battlefield 6 is not alone in upgrading its defenses. ARC Raiders recently completed the rollout of Denuvo Anti-Cheat for all players, alongside hardware and software detection, machine-learning-driven input analysis and systems that return loot lost to confirmed cheaters. Embark is clearly treating fair play as an ongoing battle rather than a patch-it-once-and-forget-it side quest.
That change in attitude matters. Cheaters do more than ruin one match; they make honest players question every suspicious death and can eventually push communities toward the uninstall button. Developers are realizing that flashy seasons and shiny cosmetics mean little when players no longer trust the competition. Stronger anti-cheat tools may inconvenience a small number of PC users, but letting hackers run wild can cost a multiplayer game far more players.
EA is also improving the action on the battlefield itself. Update 1.3.3.0 introduced major gunplay changes designed to reward deliberate aiming, recoil control and weapon knowledge. Automatic weapons now have more predictable recoil, while increased bullet deviation makes controlled bursts and tap firing more effective at longer ranges. Bullets also lose more speed over distance, and reduced limb damage means players must aim for the chest or head instead of spraying wildly and hoping for the best. Sniper “sweet spot” ranges have also been narrowed, making those glorious one-shot eliminations require better positioning and a steadier trigger finger.
No anti-cheat system is invincible, but this TPM crackdown is a promising step toward cleaner firefights and fewer suspicious headshots from three postcodes away. Ready to join the battle?
